2、er, Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers one type and size of a parachutists reinforced jump container. The container is fabricated from nylon duck cloth and nylon webbing. 2. APPLICABL
3、E DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to e
4、nsure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirements documents cited in sections 3 and 4 of this specification, whether or not they are listed. 2.2 Government documents. 2.2.1 Drawing. In the event of a confict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersed
9、es applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Materials and components. Materials and components shall conform to the r
10、equirements on the applicable drawings, to subsidiary specifications and standards applicable thereto, and as specified herein. 3.2.1 Recvcled. recovered. or environmentally meferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possibl
11、e provided the material meets or exceeds the operational requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Construction. The construction shall conform in all respects to the drawing listed in Section 2 and all subsidiary drawings pertaining thereto, and as specified herein.
12、 3.3.1 w. All machine stitching shall be as specified on the applicable drawings and as specified herein. 3.3.1.1 Type 301 stitchiqg. Ends of all type 301 stitching shall be backstitched or overstitched not less than 112 inch in accordance with the required stitch pattern. Thread tension shall be ma
13、intained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in the puckering of the material sewn. 14、GL) 3.3.1.1.1 Repairs of me 30 1 stitching. Repairs of type 30 1 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during the stitching, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching) from the end of
15、the stitching. I/ b. Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 1 inch from the defective area, (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching), co
16、ntinue over the defective area, and continue a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching) beyond the defective ?ea onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing the defective stitching, without damaging the materials, and restitching in
17、 the required manner. I/ - 1/ When making the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.3.1.2 Automatic stitching. Automatic stitching machines may be used to perform any of the required stitch patterns provided the requirements for the stitch pattern, stitches
18、per inch, and size and type of thread are met; and at least three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. 3.3.2 Thread ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to a maximum length of 1/4 inch. 3.4 Repairs. Repairs such as mends, darns, patches, or splices
19、 are not permitted on the container. 3.5 Replacement of defective components. During the spreading, cutting and mandacturing process, components having material defects or damages that are classified as defects in table I shall be removed from production and replaced with nondefective and properly m
20、atched components. 3.6 Workmanship. The finished and assembled containers shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection

When a first article inspection is required (see 3.1 and 6.2) it shall
22、 be examined in accordance with 4.3. Sampling for first article inspection shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2). 4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall include the examination of 4.3.1,4.3.2,4.3.3 and 4.3.4. Sampling for the inspections in 4.3.3 and 4.3
