SCOPE

2、 1.1 Scope. This CID covers a box used to store vehicular accessories. 2. SALIENT CHARACTENSTICS 2.1 Materials. The material used for the box shall be equivalent in strength to 1.5 millimeter (mm) (0.06 inch) thick low carbon steel. AU metals shall provide corrosion resistance equivalent to or bette

3、r than 1008 galvanized steel-with a minimum zinc thickness of 0.02 mm (7.5 x 10 -4 inch). Recovered materiais shd be used to the maximum extent practicable (see 3.1). 2.2 Desim and construction. The form and dimensions of the box shall conform to figure 1. The box shall be watertight. Beneficial com

The seal shall be capable of maintaining a watertight integrity within the box when the cover is secured with the latch. Th

6、e seal shall be cemented to the cover after find surface treatment, employing an adhesive suitable to the material being used for the box. 2.2.2 Latch. The latch shall be capable of keeping the cover closed tightly during all operating conditions, including operation over rough terrain. The latch sh

7、all include a tab with a hole, as shown in figure 1, to enable the insertion of a lock or other securing device. 2.3 Surface treatment. The surfaces of the box shall be cleaned, pretreated, primed, and painted, as applicable, for the material being used. 2.3.1 Weld primer. When spet weldiig is neces

8、sary, the aying surfaces shall be primed with an epoxy based, zinc rich primer of use on metal surfaces before spot welding. 2.3.2 Pretreatment. When low carbon steel is used for the box material, the daces shall be pretreated with a zinc phosphate, spray or immersion application, or an aqueous iron

9、 phosphate application. 2.3.3 Primer. Metal surfaces shall be primed with a quick drymg, corrosion inhibiting, high solids, alkyd primer for pretreated metals. The primer shall be lead and chromate free and contain no more than 420 grams per liter (56 ounces per gallon) of volatile organic compounds

10、 (VOC). 2.3.4 Paint. Metal surfaces shall be painted with an air drying, semigloss, alkyd enamel for use on primed exterior. The enamel shall be lead and chromate fiee and meet air pollution requirements for solvent emissions. The color shall be specified by the procuring activity in accordance with

11、 FED-STD-595 (see 6.1). 2.4 Identifkation marking. Unless otherwise specified (see 6. i), the marking on the box shall include the mandacturers identification code (CAGE), the contract number, the national stock number (NSN), and the part identification number (PIN) AA52608-1 (see 6.1). The marking

12、shall be permanent and !egible. 2.5 Welds. Metal-arc welding and spot welding procedures shall be in accordance with the mandacturers standards for welds. Welded surfaces shall be fkee of cracks and inclusions, and the overlap conditions shall not exceed 10 percent of the total weld length. There sh

13、all be no lack of fusion which causes failure. 2.5.1 Welded surfms. The offerorkontractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance w

15、ith paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 3.2 Safety. This item shall comply with all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements found in 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Resosnsbilitv for insgectlon.

16、The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections and tests. 4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certisl and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to the producers own dr

17、awings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices. Items with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided fo

18、r under the provisions of the contract. 5. PACKING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract (see 6.1). 6.
