3、uary 6, 1996 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION SAW RECIPROCATING, PORTABLE, PNEUMATIC: METAL CUTTING The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description (CID) for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) applies to a single type of p

4、neumatic, portable, reciprocating, metal-cutting saw. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Material. Material shall be selected by the supplier and shall be subject to all provisions of this CID. 2.2 Design and construction. The saw shall consist of air motor, reciprocating assembly, housing, handle, and

5、blade chuck. The air motor shall be either reciprocating or rotary type. The metal cutting saw design and construction shall be representative of a standard commercial saw with a proven history of durability and performance, which also meets the requirements of this CID. 2.2.1 Handle. The saw shall

6、be provided with a pistol-grip-type handle located to permit one-hand operation of the saw. The handle shall be tapped with 1/4 - 18 NPT to receive the air coupling nipple. 2.2.2 Control lever. An instant-release-type, air-control lever or trigger shall be provided and located in the handle to permi

7、t operation of the saw and the air-control lever at the same time with one hand. The control lever shall provide infinite speed control from stop to full rated speed. 8、ple. A male quick-disconnect coupling nipple conforming to figure 1 shall be provided. The thread size shall be 1/4-18 NPT. The nipple shall be capable of operating at pressures up to 150 pounds per square inch (psi). The nipple shall interface with military type II, class C female couplings conform

9、ing to A-A-59439. 2.2.4 Stroke. The length of the stroke shall be not more than 1.75 inch (in.) or less than 0.25 in. at the no-load speed. 2.2.5 Dimensions. The overall length of the saw shall be not more than 14.5 in. excluding the blade. 2.2.6 Weight. The weight of the saw excluding the blade, sh

10、all be not more than 5.5 pounds (lbs). 2.3 Performance. The saw shall cut 0.25 in. 6061-T6 aluminum plate at an average rate of not less than 3 in./min at the applicable cutting strokes per minute (min) and air consumption as specified in table I. The reciprocating air motor shall be double-acting and shall transmit power directly to the reciprocating shaft. 2.4.1.1 Reciprocating sh

12、aft. The reciprocating shaft shall be attached to the air motor to form the reciprocating mechanism. The shaft shall have splines or flats to prevent rotation in the housing. 2.4.2 Rotary air motor. The rotary air motor shall be of the multivane type and shall transmit power to the reciprocating sha

13、ft through a rotary cam and positive acting cam follower. 2.4.2.1 Reciprocating mechanism. The reciprocating mechanism shall consist of a rotary cam, cam follower, and reciprocating shaft. Cam follower and reciprocating shaft shall convert the rotary action of air motor to reciprocating action for t

14、he saw blade. The rotary cam shall be supported at each end with sealed-for-life bearings. The reciprocating shaft shall have splines or flats to prevent rotation in the housing. 15、ation. The air motor shall be lubricated through a standard air line lubricator. The reciprocating mechanism shall be provided with a means of flood lubrication of the cam and cam follower. 2.6 Identification marking. The required marking for the saw shall be limited to the suppliers name or tradema

16、rk, model, serial number and stock number. Identification plates shall be made of a material suitable to withstand the environmental conditions expected to be experienced during operation and storage of the saw. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered material. The offeror/contractor is encouraged

17、to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections (examinations and tests).

18、4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices. Items

19、 with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 5. PACKAGING. Preservation, packing, and mark

20、ing for the desired level shall be as specified in the contract (see 6.2). 6.
