SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the oxygen mask receiver assem- bly used to attach the MBU-5/

2、P oxygen mask to the protective helmet assembly for air crewmembers. 2. 10、opies should be addressed to the American Society for Testing Materials, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Qualification. The receiver assembly furnished under this specification shall be products which have been subjected to and which have passed the qualifica

11、tion tests specified herein, and which have been listed on or approved for listing on the applicable Qualified Products List. 12、ons and standards for necessary commodities and services not speci- fied herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.3 Materials. Materials shall conform to applicable specifi- cations and shall be as specified herein and on applicable drawings. Materials which are not covered by spec

13、ifications, or which are not specifically described herein, shall be of the best quality, of the lightest practicable weight, and suit- able for the purpose intended. 3.3.1 Metals. Metals shall be of the corrosion-resistant type or suitably treated to resist corrosion due to fuels, salt spray, or at

14、mospheric conditions likely to ,occur in storage or normal service. Metals shall be protected against such corro- sion in a manner that will in no way prevent compliance with the performance requirements of this specification. The use of any protective treatment that will crack, chip, or scale with

15、age or extremes of atmospheric conditions shall be avoided. 3.4 Design and construction. The oxygen mask receiver assem- bly shall be complete when the receiver jaw assembly is in posi- tion within the receiver housing and the-nameplate attached-to -the top of the housing with lock washers, MS35335-

16、58, and ma- chine screws, MS51957-28. Also, the backplate must be attached to the housing with lock washers, MS35335-58, and machine screws MS51957-26 and MS51957-28. The receiver assembly shall conform to AF Drawing 60C4459. 3.4.1 Nameplate. The nameplate shall be made of aluminum alloy, temper T4,

17、 0.020 inches thick, per Federal Specification QQ-250/4 and shall conform to AF Drawing 60B4466. 3.4.2 Backplate. The backplate shall be made of stainless steel, composition 301, 1/4 hard, per MIL-S-5059 and shall conform to AF Drawing 60B4465. 3.4.3 Receiver housing. The housing shall be made of al

18、u- minum alloy 380.0 per Federal Specification QQ-A-591 and shall conform to AF Drawing 60D4460 complete with helical coil in- serts per MS122118. The housing (prior to installing helical coil inserts) shall. be anodized per MIL-A-8625, type II, class 1. The exterior surface of the. housing shall be

19、 coated with zinc chromate primer per MIL-P-8585 after anodizing. 20、USAF) 3.4.4 Jaw assembly. The jaw assembly shall be assembled in accordance with AF Drawing 60C4461. The jaw assembly is com- posed of a top mounting plate, 60B4462, a bottom mounting plate, 60B4464, jaws, 60C4463, and rivets, 6284257. 3.4.4.1 Mounting plates. Both mounting plates shall be made of s

21、tainless steel, composi-tion 301, 1/4 hard per MIL-S-5059 and shall conform to AF Drawings 60B4462 and 60B4464. 3.4.4.2 Jaws. The jaws shall be made of copper infiltrated sintered carbon steel, class C per ASTM B303. 3.4.4.3 Rivets. The rivets shall be made of copper alloy, alloy number 260, temper

22、1/2 hard per QQ-W-321. The rivets shall conform to AF Drawing 6284257. 3.5 Performance. 3.5.1 Receiver assembly. The receiver assembly when fully prepare.d according to this specification shall pass the visual examinazion and the pull teset, specified. in paragxaph 4.5.1 and 4.5.2. 3,6 Interchangeab

23、ility. All parts having the same manufac- turers past number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable. The drawing number requirements of MIL-STD-100 shall g-overn changes in the manufacturers part numbers. 3.7 Identification of product. The receiver assembly shall have the following

24、information impregnated or stamped on the nameplate surface in accordance with AF Drawing 60B4466. *Manufacturers Name or Code P/N 60C4459 *Contract No * Manufacturer shall include the applicable information. 3.8 Workmanship. The receiver assembly shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from i

25、rregularities, defects orfor- eign matter which could adversely affect safety, performance, reliability or durability . 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for. the performance of

26、 all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may uti- lize his own facilities or any other commercial laboratory ac- ceptable to the Government. 27、hout license from IHS-,-,-flIL-R-83bb Lb = 7797906 0206304 3 MIL-R-83866 (USAF) to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specifica- tion where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The exa

28、mination and testing of the receiver assembly shall be classified as follows: (a) Qualification inspection. Qualification inspection consists of examinations and tests performed on samples sub- mitted for approval as qualified products. 5 (b) Quality conformance inspection consists of examina- tions

29、 and tests performed on individual products or lots to determine conformance of the products or lots with the require- ments set forth in this specificaticn. 4.3 Qualification inspection. Qualification inspection shall consist of all the examinations and testS.of this specification. 4.3.1 Qualificat

30、ion samples. Three receiver assemblies shall be prepared in accordance with this specification and shall be submitted to the procuring activity for qualification. The receiver assembly shall be representative of the production item. 4.3.2 Qualification test report. The contractor shall pre- pare thr

31、ee copies of a test report in accordance with MIL-STD- 831 and submit it to the qualifying activity. The test report shall contain detailed statements, identified by the appli- cable paragraph number of this specification, of compliance or non-compliance with each requirement of this specification.

32、4.4 Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance in- spection shall consist of the following examinations and tests. 4.4.1 Individual tests. Each receiver assembly shall be visu- ally examined per paragraph 4.5.1. 4.4.2 Sampling tests. Three receiver assemblies selected at random from each lo

33、t of 100 or less, shall be subjected to the pull test per paragraph 4.5.2. 4.4.2.1 Rejection and retest. When one or more items from a lot fail to meet the specification, acceptance of all items in the lot shall be withheld until the extent and cause of failure have been determined. The contractor s

34、hall explain fully to the Government representative the cause of failure and the ac- tion taken to preclude recurrence. For production reasons, individual tests or other sampling plans may be continued pen- . ding the investigation of a sampling

36、 test failure. But final acceptance of the entire lot or lots produced later shall not be made until it is determined that all items meet all the re- quiremen ts o f the specification. 4.4.3 Defects in items already accepted. The investigation of a test failure could indicate that defects may exist

37、in items already accepted. If so, the contractor shall fully advise the procuring activity of all the defects likely to be found and the method of correcting them. 4.5 Test methods. 4.5.1 Visual examination. The receiver assembly shall be visually examined according to Table I. One major defect or 1

39、sing from receiver assembly. 102. Screws not tight or securely attached to the receiver. 103. Color not confor- ming to specification. 6. Any defect which hinders the function of the receiver assembly. 4.5.2 Pull test. The receiver assembly with a bayonet per AF Drawing numbers 70280 inserted shall

40、withstand a maximum sepa- rating force of 500 pounds without damage to the receiver. A pull force shall be applied to the receiver engagement, while the. bayonet is being rocked in a plane coinciding with the re- ceiver jaw assembly, in increments of 25 pounds until the force reaches 200 pounds. The

42、sembly during any part of the test constitutes rejection. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging. Unless otherwise .specified by the procuring activity, each Oxygen Mask Receiver shall be prepared for delivery in accordance with MIL-STD-794, Level A, B or C (See 6.2 for level.) 5

43、.1.1 Level A. 5.1.1.1 Cleaning. Each Oxygen Mask Receiver shall be cleaned in accordance with Method C1 of Specification MIL-P-116. 5.1.1.2 Drying. Each Oxygen Mask Receiver.shal1 be dried to remove any. residue moisture or cleaning solution by utilizing any of the drying methods of SpecificationMIL

44、-P-116, providing the method is not injurious to the item. 5.1.1.3 Preservation application, Preservation of each Oxygen Mask Receiver shall be accomplished without the use of preser- vative compounds, oil or grease. 5.1.1.4 Unit packaginR. All wrapping, cushioning, dunnage and containers used in th

45、e packaging shall be completely free of contamination by oil and grease. The Oxygen Mask Receiver shall be packaged in accordance with Method III of MIL-P-116, in a greaseproof-waterproof bag without preservatives. 5.1.1.5 Intermediate Packaging. Intermediate containers shall not.exceed a.maximum of

46、 40 pounds net weight, and a maxi- mum of 1.5 cubic feet with either of the two dimensions ex- ceeding 16 inches. 5.1.2 Level B. (Same as Level A) 5.1.3 Level C. Cleaning, drying, preservation and packaging shall be in accordance with the manufacturers commercial prac- tice. 5.2 Packing. Packing sha

47、ll be Level A, B, or C as specified (See 6.2 for level.) 5.2.1 Level A. Each Oxygen Mask Receiver preserved and pack- aged as specified in 5.1.1.4 shall be packed in exterior type containers. The containers used shall be closed, sealed and reinforced in accordance with the applicable specification t

All Oxygen Mask Receivers preserved and pack- aged as specified in paragraph 5.1.1.4 shall be packed in domestic type

49、 containers. The containers used shall be closed, sealed and reinforced in accordance with the applicable speci- f ication there to. 5.2.3 Level C. All packaged Oxygen Mask Receivers which re- quire overpacking for acceptance by the carrier, shall be packed in exterior type shipping containers in a manner that will insure safe transportation at the lowest freight rate, to the point of delivery.
