Estimated working gas capacity in un
7、derground storage, as of June 2007, was 3,990 Bcf, with a total deliverability of 79,998 MMcf per day. The United States imported 4.0 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2008, primarily from Canada. Delivery The U.S. natural gas industry had 2.39 million miles of pipeline including distribution, s
8、ervices, transmission, and gathering lines in place in 2008. Sales Gas utility sales increased 0.3 percent in 2008 to 8,594 trillion Btu. Residential sales increased 2.8 percent from 2007 levels. Commercial sales increased 3.4 percent. Industrial sales decreased 7.4 percent. Electric generation sale
9、s decreased 1.9 percent. Prices The average retail natural gas price increased 10.9 percent in 2008 compared to 2007. The average residential price increased 6.4 percent.
