5、n) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISOmember bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technicalcommittees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established hasthe right to be repres
6、ented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, inliaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International ElectrotechnicalCommission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.Draft International Standards a
7、dopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting.Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.ISO 6196-4 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 171, Document imaging applications, SubcommitteeSC 3

16、anges of both an intellectual and a material nature. Theseexchanges often become difficult, either because of the great variety of terms used in various fields or languages toexpress the same concept, or because of the absence or imprecision of the definitions of useful concepts.To avoid misundersta
17、ndings and to facilitate such exchanges it is essential to clarify the concepts, to select terms tobe used in various languages or in various countries to express the same concept, and to establish definitionsproviding satisfactory equivalents for the various terms in different languages.The purpose
18、 of ISO 6196 is to provide definitions that are rigorous, uncomplicated and which can be understood byall concerned. The scope of each concept defined has been chosen to provide a definition that is suitable forgeneral application. In those circumstances, where a restricted application is concerned,
19、 the definition may need tobe more specific.However, while it is possible to maintain the self-consistency of this individual standard, the reader is warned thatthe dynamics of language and the problems associated with the standardization and maintenance of vocabulariesmay introduce duplications and

21、nges commerciaux internationaux qui sont souvent rendusdifficiles, soit par la diversit des termes employs dans diffrents milieux ou dans diffrentes langues pourexprimer une mme notion, soit par labsence ou limprcision des dfinitions des notions utiles.Pour viter des malentendus ayant leur origine d
22、ans le vocabulaire et faciliter ces changes, il convient de procder un choix des termes employer dans les diffrentes langues ou dans les diffrents pays pour exprimer la mmenotion, et de rdiger des dfinitions assurant une quivalence satisfaisante entre ces diffrents termes.Le but de lISO 6196 est de
23、procurer des dfinitions rigoureuses, simples et comprhensibles pour tous lesintresss. La porte de chaque notion dfinie a t choisie de faon que sa dfinition puisse avoir la valeur la plusgnrale. Cependant, il est parfois ncessaire de restreindre une notion un domaine plus troit et de lui donneralors
24、une dfinition plus spcifique.Par ailleurs, si lon peut assurer la cohrence interne de la prsente norme prise individuellement, la cohrence desdiverses normes entre elles est plus difficile atteindre.
