18、devices, rated 600 V or less, for use withDiesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). These requirements may be used to evaluate individual components of adispensing device as indicated in 1.3 for use with DEF.1.2 Dispensing devices covered by these requirements are intended for use with DEF defined as a liquidwith

19、 67.5 percent deionized water and 32.5 percent urea.1.3 In addition to the overall dispensing device, and in accordance with 1.1, these requirements shallapply to devices that are used to construct a dispensing device, including the following:a) Pumps;b) Meters;c) Strainers;d) Electrically operated

20、valves (for use with flammable liquids);e) Hose nozzle valves;f) Mechanically operated valves;g) Hose assemblies;h) Breakaway couplings;i) Swivel connectors,j) Pressure relief devices (for use with flammable liquids);k) Mechanical line leak detectors;l) Casting impregnation materials; andm) Gaskets

21、and seals.1.4 Dispensing devices shall be installed and used in accordance with the applicable requirements in theCode for Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages, ANSI/NFPA 30A and the NationalElectrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.1.5 These requirements apply to wiring methods used to install o

29、.3 Glossary3.1 For the purpose of this Outline, the following definitions will apply.3.2 AIR GAP A minimum of 1 inch (25.4 mm) free air space provided between the planes of Division1 and Division 2 hazardous locations and an unclassified area of a dispensing device.3.3 BASE The part of the assembly

30、that is intended to be secured to the foundation on which thedevice will be installed.3.4 CLASS I HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS Locations in which flammable gases or vapors are or maybe present in the air in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures. For the purposeof these requirements

31、, as applied to flammable or combustible liquid dispensing devices, the followingclassified areas are further defined. The area of the dispensing system covered by these requirementsis the envelope defined by the maximum outer dimensions. DEF dispensing devices installed near or inconjunction with f

32、lammable or combustible liquid dispensers could be located in areas that areconsidered classified.See Figures 3.1 and 3.2 for an illustration of Class I hazardous locations.a) Class I, Group D, Division 1 1) The area within a dispenser housing up to 4 feet (1.2 m) vertically above the base,except fo

44、he possibility ofescape of liquid, or expose bare live electrical parts.3.11 INTENDED CARE AND USAGE Intended care means tasks such as lubrication and cleaning.Intended usage covers the manipulations involved in starting the dispenser, dispensing the liquid, andrestoring the dispenser to its standby

45、 condition.3.12 MASTER-SATELLITE DISPENSER COMBINATION Consists of two or more dispensingdevices. The Master dispenser controls the dispensing operation; the Satellite dispenser actuallydispenses as well, but is not used to control the dispensing function.3.13 PANEL A principal section of a housing

49、dispenser housing isolated from Division 1 or Division2 locations by a vapor barrier or a solid nozzle boot, but not completely surrounded by a Division 1 orDivision 2 area, that does not contain a level of flammable gases or vapors that are capable ofproducing explosive or ignitable mixtures.3.19 VAPOR BARRIER A solid, unpierced partition located between Division 1 or Division 2locations and unclassified areas of a dispensing device.
