The first stated value is the requirement.3 Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Instructions3.1 A copy of the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions is to be furnished f

8、or use as aguide in the examination and testing of the extinguisher unit.3.2 The instructions shall (1) reference the limitations of the extinguisher unit, (2) be consistent with thelimitations utilized during the test, and (3) include at least the following:a) Description and operating details of e

9、ach extinguisher unit and all accessory equipment,including identification of extinguisher units or accessory equipment by part or model number.b) Degree and type of protection afforded by the system, including type and sizes of residentialranges covered.c) Type of pipe, tubing, and fittings to be u

10、sed.d) Typical system layout and specific limitations and recommendations for correct installationand effective protection.e) Specific information on piping limitations, nozzle placement and detector placement.f) Description of all variations of each extinguisher unit, including the limitations for

11、eachvariation.g) Discharge nozzle limitations, including maximum coverage, minimum and maximum heightlimitations, and nozzle location.h) Details on installation of each extinguisher unit including accessory equipment.i) Reference to the specific ratings and types of detection and control equipment (

12、if applicable)to be connected to the equipment.j) Specifications and instructions for interconnection of multiple units or a caution statement tonot use multiples of units, if a means for interconnecting is unavailable.k) Operating pressure of a stored-pressure type unit at 70F (21C).l) Operating te

16、nce of all equipment.p) The name of the manufacturer or private labeler, or equivalent designation.q) Date and manual designation number on each page.PERFORMANCE4 Fire Test Residential Range Top4.1 Test Apparatus Used for Residential Range Top (Full Scale) Testing4.1.1 Range and Exhaust Hoods4.1.1.1

17、 Two residential cooking ranges are to be used for the fire tests. One range is to be an electrictype and the second is to be a gas type. Each range is to have four heating elements or burners.4.1.1.2 The cooking surfaces of the ranges are to be the maximum as specified for coverage in themanufactur

18、ers installation instructions.4.1.1.3 An exhaust hood is to be installed at the maximum distance above the range to permit installationof nozzle and detectors at the maximum height above the cooking surface.4.1.1.4 The exhaust hood dimensions are to be the maximum as specified in the installation in

19、structions.The exhaust hood is to have an outside exhaust fan feature which is arranged to discharge vapors awayfrom the cooking area.4.1.1.5 The range and hood are to be located in a draft free area of a room in an ambient temperaturenot greater than 80F. See Figure 4.1 for a typical range and exha

23、.2.1 General Extinguishing System Unit Preparation4.2.1.1 Representative samples of extinguisher units are to be subjected to the extinguishment testsspecified in paragraphs 4.3.1.1 4.3.2.4, as applicable.4.2.1.2 All extinguishment tests, except for the Range Splash Test, paragraphs 4.3.2.1 4.3.2.4,

24、 are tobe conducted using the minimum flow rate condition for the test nozzles.4.2.1.3 To obtain the minimum flow rate condition, an extinguisher unit is to be assembled using itsmaximum piping limitations with respect to number of fittings and size and length of pipe. The extinguisherunit is to be

25、tested at the minimum operating pressure by underpressuring the cylinder or gas cartridge atambient temperature to simulate the minimum operating temperature.4.2.1.4 Using the test arrangement described in paragraph 4.2.1.3 the nozzles are to be placed at themost difficult location and orientation a

26、llowed by the installation instructions with respect to achievingextinguishment.4.2.2 General Test Apparatus Preparation4.2.2.1 The test apparatus for the residential range top testing is to be as specified in paragraphs 4.1.1.1 4.1.1.5.4.2.2.2 Except for the fire test using the test vessel describe

27、d in item (d) of paragraph 4.1.2.1, the hoodventilating fan is to be operating at all times during the fire tests.4.2.2.3 Fuels used in the test vessels are to be vegetable oil and peanut oil. 32、L4.2.2.5 The oil temperature for test vessels having 1 inch or more of oil is to be measured with athermocouple located 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) below the oil surface.4.3 Extinguishment Tests4.3.1 General4.3.1.1 An extinguisher unit is to be tested using arrangements and the test vessels as described inpa

33、ragraphs 4.1.1.1 to 4.2.2.5 and Table 4.1.4.3.1.2 When tested as specified in paragraph 4.3.1.1, an extinguisher unit shall (1) cause the flame inthe appliance to be completely extinguished, (2) not permit reignition of the oil for 5 minutes, and (3) if thetest vessel is tested with a thermocouple i

34、nserted in the cooking oil (see paragraph 4.2.2.5), cause thetemperature of the oil to decrease below its observed auto-ignition temperature.4.3.1.3 18 Separate fire tests are to be conducted using the test vessel and oil types as described inTable 4.1. For each test, the test vessel is to be filled

35、 with the specified amount and type of oil andpositioned in a burner location considered to be most difficult to achieve extinguishment. The range topburner for the test vessel is to be adjusted to the maximum intensity position and allowed to heat the testvessel until extinguisher unit actuation. E

36、xcept for the test vessel described in item (d) of paragraph4.1.2.1, the vessel is to be uncovered during the heating process. The test vessel described in item (d) ofparagraph 4.1.2.1 many require additional external heating sources to achieve auto-ignition.4.3.1.4 As described in Table 4.1, the ex

37、tinguisher unit is to be allowed to operate automatically; orarranged to be operated manually after the test vessel has burned freely for a minimum of 1 minute. Ifspecified in the manufacturers installation manual, the cooking range is to be shut down at systemactivation. After activation, observati

38、ons are to be made for (1) extinguishment, (2) reignition of thecooking oil, (3) a decrease in the oil temperature below the oil auto-ignition temperature.4.3.1.5 Based on observations made during the fire extinguishment tests described in Table 4.1, some ofthese tests may be waived if a determinati

39、on can be made that selected fire test arrangements arerepresentative of all tests described in Table 4.1.4.3.2 Cooking Oil Splash Tests4.3.2.1 When tested as described in paragraphs 4.3.2.1 to 4.3.2.4 an extinguisher unit shall (1) cause thefire in a test vessel to be completely extinguished, and (

40、2) cause no splashing or oil due to theextinguisher unit operation, as evidenced by the presence of drops of oil on the surrounding surface area.4.3.2.2 The amount of oil and the test vessels for the splash test described in Table 4.1 are to be used.4.3.2.3 The nozzles are to be located at the minim

41、um height allowed by the manufacturers limitations asspecified in the installation manual and positioned in the orientation most likely to create splashing of hotoil.4.3.2.4 A clean surface at least 12 inches (305 mm) wide is to be prepared around the test vessel todetect splashing oil. The liquid o

42、il in the test vessel is to be heated by the range until spontaneous ignitionoccurs. The fire is to burn freely for a period of not less than 1 minute and the vessel is fully involved withflame. The extinguisher unit is then to be manually actuated and the cooking range is to be shut downupon exting

43、uisher unit actuation. Observations are to be made to determine compliance with therequirements of paragraph 4.3.2.1. 44、FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL5 Exposure Temperature Test for Detector Links5.1 When tested in accordance with paragraphs 5.2 and 5.3, the exposure temperature for the detectorlinks used in an extinguisher unit shall not exceed the maximum ambient temperature describe

45、d in Table4.1 of the Standard for Heat Responsive Links for Fire Protection Service, UL 33 for the temperatureratings of the detector links specified in the manufacturers installation manual for use with gas ranges.5.2 The range hood is to be located at the minimum height above the range as specifie

46、d in themanufacturers installation instructions for the installation of the extinguisher unit. The range and hood areto be located in a draft free area of a room at a minimum ambient temperature of 60F. The detector linksare to be installed over the range top as described in the manufacturers instru

47、ctions.5.3 Thermocouples are to be located near each fusible link. All four burners of the gas range are then tobe adjusted to their maximum intensity for a period of 15 minutes or until the temperature at the detectorlinks stabilize. The exhaust fan of the hood is not to be operated during this tes

48、t. The maximumtemperature at the detector links is to be observed to determine compliance with paragraph 5.1.6 Flow Distribution Tests6.1 The measured flow rate for any nozzle type specified in the installation instructions shall not be lessthan the flow rate for the test nozzles used for Fire Test

49、Residential Range Top, paragraphs 4.3.1.1 to4.3.1.5. Also, the measured flow rate for test nozzles shall not be greater than the flow rate for the testnozzles used for the Fire Test Residential Range Top, paragraphs 4.3.2.1 4.3.2.4. The flow tests areto be conducted by using the (1) minimum flow rate conditions specified in Fire Test Residential RangeTop, paragraphs 4.3.1.1 to 4.3.1.5, and (2) the maximum flow rate conditions specified in Fire Test Residential Range Top, paragraphs 4.3.1.5 4.3.2
