6、T AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULGENERAL1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover the method for conducting fire testing of extinguisher units intended toextinguish fires occurring on residential range top cooking surfaces.2 Units of Measurement2.1 If a value
7、for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the second value maybe only approximate. The first stated value is the requirement.3 Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Instructions3.1 A copy of the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions is to be furnished f
8、or use as aguide in the examination and testing of the extinguisher unit.3.2 The instructions shall (1) reference the limitations of the extinguisher unit, (2) be consistent with thelimitations utilized during the test, and (3) include at least the following:a) Description and operating details of e
9、ach extinguisher unit and all accessory equipment,including identification of extinguisher units or accessory equipment by part or model number.b) Degree and type of protection afforded by the system, including type and sizes of residentialranges covered.c) Type of pipe, tubing, and fittings to be u
10、sed.d) Typical system layout and specific limitations and recommendations for correct installationand effective protection.e) Specific information on piping limitations, nozzle placement and detector placement.f) Description of all variations of each extinguisher unit, including the limitations for
11、eachvariation.g) Discharge nozzle limitations, including maximum coverage, minimum and maximum heightlimitations, and nozzle location.h) Details on installation of each extinguisher unit including accessory equipment.i) Reference to the specific ratings and types of detection and control equipment (
12、if applicable)to be connected to the equipment.j) Specifications and instructions for interconnection of multiple units or a caution statement tonot use multiples of units, if a means for interconnecting is unavailable.k) Operating pressure of a stored-pressure type unit at 70F (21C).l) Operating te
13、mperature range limitations. 16、nce of all equipment.p) The name of the manufacturer or private labeler, or equivalent designation.q) Date and manual designation number on each page.PERFORMANCE4 Fire Test Residential Range Top4.1 Test Apparatus Used for Residential Range Top (Full Scale) Testing4.1.1 Range and Exhaust Hoods4.1.1.1
17、 Two residential cooking ranges are to be used for the fire tests. One range is to be an electrictype and the second is to be a gas type. Each range is to have four heating elements or burners.4.1.1.2 The cooking surfaces of the ranges are to be the maximum as specified for coverage in themanufactur
18、ers installation instructions.4.1.1.3 An exhaust hood is to be installed at the maximum distance above the range to permit installationof nozzle and detectors at the maximum height above the cooking surface.4.1.1.4 The exhaust hood dimensions are to be the maximum as specified in the installation in
19、structions.The exhaust hood is to have an outside exhaust fan feature which is arranged to discharge vapors awayfrom the cooking area.4.1.1.5 The range and hood are to be located in a draft free area of a room in an ambient temperaturenot greater than 80F.
