4、3.1) intended for use in the specificmanufacturers industrial control equipment.SB2 GeneralSB2.1 In addition to complying with Sections SB3 SB8 of these requirements, the replacement partsalone, and in combination with the complete device (industrial control equipment), shall comply with theapplicab

5、le Construction and Performance requirements of the Standard for Industrial Control Equipment,UL 508.SB3 GlossarySB3.1 REPLACEMENT PART An individual replacement part identified by the manufacturer, for use inthe same manufacturers complete device.Note: The replacement part is packaged as a “kit” co

6、ntaining the individual part and installation instructions (See Section SB8 of thisSupplement).CONSTRUCTIONSB4 GeneralSB4.1 The replacement part shall be formed and assembled so that it may be installed, in accordancewith the installation instructions, into its specified industrial control product,

7、without risk of fire or electricshock. Risk of fire or electric shock is determined by compliance with the construction and performancerequirements herein and the applicable requirements of the Standard for Industrial Control Equipment, UL508.UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPROD

8、UCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSB4.2 A replacement part shall only be installed using commonly used tools such as a screw driver or awrench. A replacement part shall not be permitted that requires the installer to remove or defeat or replacea factory installed securement means such

9、as a rivet or drive pin.PERFORMANCESB5 GeneralSB5.1 If the replacement part is recommended for use with more than one device, each representativecombination of replacement part and device shall be investigated.SB6 Replacement Part Assembly TestSB6.1 The replacement part shall be able to be installed

10、 to the specified device and shall be reliablyretained in place without causing an increased risk of fire or electric shock. Compliance is determined byinspection and the test of SB6.2 shall be performed.SB6.2 A sample of the replacement part shall be assembled to its specified device using themanuf

11、acturers installation instructions. Upon completion of the assembly, the integrity of the completedassembly shall be examined and if necessary, subjected to the applicable performance testing necessaryto maintain continued compliance with this Standard.MARKINGSSB7 GeneralSB7.1 The replacement part s

12、hall be provided in the form of a kit, including marking as detailed in SectionSB7 of this supplement.SB7.2 A required marking shall be molded, die-stamped, paint-stenciled, stamped or etched metal that ispermanently secured, or indelibly stamped lettering on a pressure-sensitive label secured by ad

13、hesivethat, upon investigation, meets the intent of the requirement for the application.SB7.3 The replacement part shall be provided with the following identification markings:a) Manufacturers name, and;b) Specific catalog or series number, and;c) The date or other dating period of manufacture not e

14、xceeding any three consecutive months.Exception: Abbreviation of the date of manufacture, or provision in a nationally acceptedconventional code or in a code affirmed by the manufacturer, meets the intent of the requirement.SB7.4 The replacement part packaging shall be marked with the following mark

17、 not replace thewritten instruction.SB8.3 Instructions shall include the following statements or their equivalent:IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSWARNING Use only replacement part (Catalog Number) with (+) onlyWhere (+) is to be substituted with the specific manufacturer name, model / catalog number, a

18、nddescription of the intended device(s).WARNING Risk of Fire or Electric Shock. Do not use this replacement part with any industrial controlproduct other than the one specified on the replacement mark packaging and in these instructions.”SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONSSB8.4 The opening and closing statement

19、s of the instructions specified in SB8.3 IMPORTANTSAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, and SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS, or the equivalent shall be entirely inupper case letters or shall be emphasized to distinguish them from the rest of the text.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:It was brought to ULs attention that products certi

20、fied to UL 508 are routinely repaired in the field.Manufacturers provide replacement parts in the form of a “kit” to serve this purpose. To address this needto ensure continued compliance with the Standard, UL has developed requirements contained in a newUL 508 Supplement SB, “Replacement parts for
