7、ource) or a supervised integral battery or batteries.37.6.2 Optional accessories used to assist persons with disabilities by enhancing the low frequency orsignaling a tactile appliance shall include a source of secondary power equal to that of the smoke and heatalarms that the unit is compatible wit

If the accessory is powered solely from a primary battery, theprimary battery shall comply with the primary battery requirements contained in this standard (includingSections 15, 41.5, and 84.3).37.6.3 Detached accessories utilizing a low frequency sound or actuating tactile appliances for Single

9、 andMultiple Units shall provide a low frequency sound or a visual indication a low frequency audible troublesignal or visual trouble indication on the portion of the accessory intended to be visible to the user afterinstallation in the event of the following:a) Loss of primary power (not required f

10、or accessories utilizing primary batteries as the solepower supply),b) Low energy of the secondary power source (not required for accessories utilizing primarybatteries as the sole power supply),c) The accessory unit cannot perform its intended function of enhancing the Smoke or Heatalarms primary l

11、ow frequency audible sound or operate the tactile appliance, ord) Low energy of the primary battery power source,RATIONALE FOR DECISION:The current requirements in UL 217 explicitly permit smoke alarms to employ supervised battery poweras the primary and sole source of power. Since alarms themselves
