7、ETROFIT CONVERSION KITS FORSTAGE AND STUDIO LUMINAIRESSB1 ScopeSB1.1 These requirements apply to retrofit kits intended for specific models or model families of stage andstudio luminaires covered by the scope of the Standard for Stage and Studio Luminaires and ConnectorStrips, UL 1573.SB1.2 Applicat

8、ions excluded from the scope of the Standard for Stage and Studio Luminaires andConnector Strips, UL 1573, are also excluded from the scope of this supplement.SB1.3 All requirements in the main body of this standard also apply to these retrofit kits unless specificallysuperseded by a requirement in

9、this supplement.SB2 GlossarySB2.1 STAGE AND STUDIO LUMINAIRE - A luminaire rated 600 volts or less for use in theaters, studios,and similar locations in accordance with Articles 520 and 530 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.SB3 General RequirementsUL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FU

10、RTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSB3.1 Retrofit kits shall be constructed such that, after their installation, converted stage and studioluminaires continue to comply with all applicable construction and test requirements in the Standard forStage and Studio Luminaires and

11、Connector Strips, UL 1573. This requirement supersedes clauses 6.1,7.1, 9.1, 10.1 and 12.2.SB3.2 If a retrofit kit requires modifying the luminaire in a way that could negatively affect its testperformance (i.e.: adding openings, modifying gaskets, new or modified electrical components, etc.) thenth

12、e appropriate tests from the Standard for Stage and Studio Luminaires and Connector Strips, UL 1573shall be conducted on the converted luminaire.SB3.3 A luminaire shall not be modified such that it draws more current or power than its originalconstruction.SB3.4 When applying Clause 15:a) Compliance

13、shall be determined using the Standard for Stage and Studio Luminaires andConnector Strips, UL 1573; andb) Clause 15.3 does not apply since this supplement only addresses conversions of specificluminaire models or model families.SB4 Additional Markings and InstructionsSB4.1 Retrofit kits shall be pr

14、ovided with instructions identifying the manufacturer and modeldesignation(s) of the stage and studio luminaires for which they are intended.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:This expands the scope of UL 1598C to include LED retrofit kits intended for stage and studio luminairescertified under the Standard for

15、 Stage and Studio Luminaires and Connector Strips, UL 1573. Stage andstudio luminaires utilizing retrofit kits certified to these requirements will continue to comply with UL 1573while incorporating the additional marking and installation instruction safeguards currently required by UL1598C.Copyrigh
