7、upplement)SUPPLEMENT SA - ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LED RETROFIT CONVERSION KITS FORMARINE LUMINAIRESSA1 ScopeSA1.1 These requirements apply to retrofit kits intended for luminaires covered by the scope of UL 1598A,Supplemental Requirements for Luminaires for Installation on Marine Vessels.SA1.2 A

8、pplications excluded from the scope of UL 1598A, Supplemental Requirements for Luminaires forInstallation on Marine Vessels, are also excluded from the scope of this supplement.SA1.3 All requirements in the main body of this standard also apply to these retrofit kits unless specificallysuperseded by

11、ructed such that, after their installation, converted marine luminairescontinue to comply with all mechanical, electrical and environmental construction requirements in UL1598A applicable to the marine luminaire type for which it is marked and intended (See Table SA4.1),including:a) Corrosion protec

12、tion;b) Openings;c) Joints and gaskets;d) Mounting means;e) Glass and lamp support;f) General electrical construction;g) Convenience receptacles, switches and fuses;h) Lampholders;i) Wiring and conductors; andj) Power supply connectionsSA3.2 If a retrofit kit requires modifying the luminaire in a wa

13、y that could affect its corrosion protection orwater resistance (i.e.: adding openings, modifying gaskets, new ferrous parts, etc.) then the appropriateenvironmental and corrosion resistance tests from UL 1598A shall be conducted on the convertedluminaire.SA4 Additional Markings and InstructionsSA4.

14、1 Retrofit kits intended for specific luminaire models, as defined in 1.1a, shall be provide withinstructions identifying the manufacturer and model designation(s) of the marine luminaires for which theyare intended.SA4.2 Retrofit kits intended for one or more generic type luminaires, as defined in

17、etrofit kits intended for marine luminaires certifiedunder UL 1598A, Supplemental Requirements for Luminaires for Installation on Marine Vessels.UL Certified marine luminaires are currently required to comply with all mechanical and electricalrequirements of the luminaire standard (UL 1598) and with

18、 the additional corrosion protection andenvironmental requirements in UL 1598A. Marine luminaires utilizing the retrofit kits certified to theserequirements will continue to comply with UL 1598A, while incorporating the marking and installationinstruction safeguards currently required by UL 1598C.Co
