4、le for use with the typeof fluorescent lamp marked on the ballast involved and be of the type to comply with Paragraph 8.8.1 ofUL 1598 if used to retrofit a luminaire provided with an instant-start electronic ballast.12.2 (NEW) Except as noted in 12.3, a ballast provided as part of the kit intended

5、to retrofit a luminairewith instant-start ballast(s), incorporating bi-pin lampholders, shall be Type CC.12.3 (NEW) A ballast provided as part of the kit intended to retrofit a luminaire with instant-start ballast(s)need not be Type CC if the luminaire is constructed with lampholders intended for us

6、e with instant-startelectronic ballasts in accordance with the component requirements in Section 4.1 of UL 1598.Lampholders marked with a circle I comply with these requirements.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:In general retrofit kits covered by UL 1598B must comply with and facilitate a retrofitted luminair

7、e thatcomplies with the requirements of UL 1598. This Certification Requirement Decision clarifies that therequirements in Subsection 8.8 of UL 1598 apply to all retrofit (reflector) kits covered under UL 1598B thatprovide replacement lampholders and/or ballasts and are intended to retrofit luminair
