4、 Design B polyphase motors, as defined in NEMA MG 1, Motors and Generators,rated 500 horsepower (373 kW) or less, 600 volts or less, that are intended for use in accordance withNFPA 20, the Standard for the Installation of Centrifugal Fire Pumps applications.1.2A This Standard also covers motor rate
5、d greater than 500 hp (373Kw) that are intended for use inCentrifugal Fire Pump applications.3 General3.1 A motor for use with fire pumps shall be polyphase Design B, as defined in NEMA MG 1, Motors andGenerators.Exception: A motor complying with Exceptions No. 1 and No. 2 of Clause 10.2 is consider
6、ed to meet theintent of Clause 3.13.2 Fire pump motors intended for use with variable speed drives shall additionally meet the requirementsof NEMA MG-1, Motors and Generators, Part 31, Definite Purpose Inverter Fed Polyphase Motors.Exception: A motor complying with UL 1004-8, Inverter Duty Motors, i
7、s considered to fulfill the requirementof Clause 3.2.8 Locked Rotor Test for Fire Pump Motors8.2 One sample of the motor is to be operated for 123 seconds at rated voltage and frequency with therotor locked. The current is to be measured during the test. After the locked-rotor operation, and while s
8、tillin a heated condition, the motor shall be subjected to the Dielectric Voltage-Withstand Test of UL 1004-1without evidence of electrical breakdown. The motor shall operate after the application of the dielectricpotential.Exception: Motors marked in accordance with 11.3 shall comply with Table 2 o
