TIA STANDARDS TIA Standards contain information deemed to be of technical value to the industry, and are published at the request of the originating Committee withou
6、t necessarily following the rigorous public review and resolution of comments which is a procedural part of the development of an ANS Standard. TIA Standards should be reviewed every five years by the formulating Committee and a decision made on whether to proceed to develop an ANS Standard on this
7、subject. Suggestions for revision should be directed to: Standards where design, performance, and ongoing quality requirements are specified. 1.3 Objective The objective of this specification is to aid in the development of a Detail Specification listing minimum design and performance criteria of co
8、nventional, permanent, optical fiber splices. This specification shall be used in conjunction with the Sectional and Generic Specifications (TINEIA- This objective is achieved through the establishment of a descriptive splice classification, required design features, minimum performance attribute va
9、lues, and quality assessment criteria. The testing and reporting methods to be used in the evaluation of the fiber optic splices are as outlined in the Generic Specification and the Sectional Specification (TINEIA-6090000 & 6090000 & TINEIA-609A000). Sectional Specification for Optical Fiber Splices. 1 TINEIA-609AA00 2 Requirements 2.1 Environmental category This specification may be used to generate Detail Specifications for optical fiber splices in the followin
11、g environmental categories. 2.1 .I Environment I: Controlled A controlled environment suggests complete protection from the elements with a maximum temperature range of +IO OC to +40 OC, a maximum relative humidity of 90%, and atmospheric pressure from 460 to 836 mmHg. A controlled environment would
12、 be found inside of a building with climatically controlled conditions. The tests required for environmental category I are listed in Table 1. 2.1.2 Environment II: Protected A protected environment is protected from the elements in a sealed closure with a maximum temperature range of -40 OC to +80
13、OC, maximum relative humidity of 98%, and an atmospheric pressure range of 460 to 1,140 mmHg. An example of a protected environment is inside of a sealed splice closure in an aerial, pedestal, or buried application. The tests required for environmental category II are listed in Table 2. 2.1.3 Enviro
14、nment 111: Non-Protected A non-protected environment is one in which the splice may be exposed to the elements or environmental conditions that are more strenuous than would be seen in todays common applications. The actual environmental extremes are to be defined by the author of the Detail Specifi
15、cation. An example of a non-protected environment may be in the outside plant without a sealed closure surrounding it, on an airplane, submarine, or battle field. The tests required for environmental category III are listed in Table 3. 2.1.4 Environment IV: Other The category “Other“ refers to unusu
16、al or very specialized applications incompatible with requirements of the preferred categories. This category may be used to construct a Detail Specification unique to these unusual or specialized applications. The test required for environment category IV are listed in Table 4. The required tests a
17、re kept to a minimum in order to provide complete flexibility to the Detail Specification author. 2 TINEIA-609AA00 2.1.5 Modified Environmental Categories Detail Specification writers may add tests and/or Groups of tests to a particular environmental category as specified in the Sectional Specificat
18、ion. However, tests may not be removed nor the sequence altered. When tests are added to a specified category, give the category a (+) designation.
