2、e the public interest through eliminatingmisunderstandings between manufacturers and purchasers, facilitating interchangeability and improvement ofproducts, and assisting the purchaser in selecting and obtaining with minimum delay the proper product for hisparticular need. Existence of such Standard
3、s and Publications shall not in any respect preclude any member ornonmember of TIA/EIA from manufacturing or selling products not conforming to such Standards and Publications,nor shall the existence of such Standards and Publications preclude their voluntary use by those other than TIA/EIAmembers,
4、whether the standard is to be used either domestically or internationally.Standards and Publications are adopted by TIA/EIA in accordance with the American National Standards Institute(ANSI) patent policy. By such action, TIA/EIA does not assume any liability to any patent owner, nor does itassume a
5、ny obligation whatever to parties adopting the Standard or Publication. TIA STANDARDSTIA Standards contain information deemed to be of technical value to the industry, and are published at the requestof the originating Committee without necessarily following the rigorous public review and resolution
6、 of commentswhich is a procedural part of the development of an ANS Standard.TIA Standards should be reviewed every five years by the formulating Committee and a decision made on whether toproceed to develop an ANS Standard on this subject. Suggestions for revision should be directed to: Standards h
7、owever, design and styledependent extensions shall not be imposed universally.Requirements imposed by a normative reference extension are mandatory unlessspecific exemptions are defined. In the event of conflicting requirements,precedence shall be generic over sectional over blank detail specificati
8、on overdetail specification.Informative examples:An optical fiber splice may be integrated with another interconnecting device to form ahybrid component, such a “connectorized splice” or a “branching splice”.TIA/EIA-609000RGB, TIA FO-6.3, 2/4/007A welded “fusion” splice may require the mechanical an
9、d environmental protectionprovided by a specified “Extension”. Examples are a “heat-shrink protection sleeve”, oran optical fiber secondary-buffer field recoating process.Some commercial or residential building applications may require direct reference tospecific safety codes and regulations, or inc
10、orporate other specific material flammabilityor toxicity requirements for specialized locations.Specialized field tooling may require specific ocular safety, electrical shock, burn hazardavoidance requirements, or require isolation procedures to prevent potential ignition ofcombustible gases.2.1.4 L
11、evel of TrainingSpecify the level of training to be provided in the Detail Specification in splice classificationworksheet. Examples of varying levels of training include:1) Published instruction manual.2) Videotape of instruction manual.3) Training course.2.1.5 Storage RequirementsProvide storage r
12、equirements such as dimensional size limits, or the need for compatibility withspecific storage equipment in the Detail Specification. A sketch of required maximumdimensions may be included in the splice classification of the Detail Specification2.1.6 Environmental CategoriesThe environmental catego
13、ry describes the limits of the environmental conditions under which thesplice will function in accordance with the completed Detail Specification. There are four spliceenvironmental categories; I, II, III, and IV. Respectively, these environments are: controlled,protected, non-protected, and other.
14、These are defined by protection from the elements oftemperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Test parameters are to be specifiedin a manner that is consistent with the environmental category. The minimum test requirementsfor each category are given in tables 1, 2, 3 and the timebetw
15、een periodic qualifications for Groups D, E & F. Detail Specifications shall specify one ormore assessment levels.The assessment level may be designated by the capital letters listed below for the preferredlevels or by the AQL or inspection period for each group if the preferred levels are not adequ
16、ate.Specify the assessment level and sampling plan in accordance with either ANSI/ASQC-Q3 orMil-Std-105E. Thespecification numbering system is given on the back of the front cover of this document.2.2.1 PrecedenceThe requirements for an optical fiber splice are specified in this Generic Specification for OpticalFiber Splices, (TIA/EIA-6090000), and in the associated Sect
22、ional (TIA/EIA-609A000) and Detail(TIA/EIA-609AA00) Specifications.In event that the requirements of this specification conflict with the requirements of the Sectionalor Detail Specification, the order of precedence shall be Generic over Sectional over Detail,unless authority is delegated to a lower
23、 level document for a specific item.2.2.2 Information to be contained in the Sectional SpecificationEach Sectional Specification is based on a splice classification type and the correspondingminimum testing requirements and procedures.
