、gineering Manual, located at http:/www.tiaonline.org/standards/sfg/engineering_manual.cfm TIA Documents shall be reviewed on a five year cycle by the formulating Committee and a decision made on whether to reaffirm, revise, withdraw, or proceed to develop an American National Standard on this subjec
、t. Suggestions for revision should be directed to: Standards and for interfacing 6 the PCF with the Packet Data Service Node (PDSN). 7 This standard is intended to provide sufficient specification of a set of interfaces to 8 support the interoperability of one vendors equipment with that of another.
、 Which 9 interface(s) a vendor chooses to implement is dependent on business decisions, and is up 10 to each vendor. However conformance to any given interface specified within this 11 standard requires all of the messages and procedures for supported features on that 12 interface to be supported as
、 specified within this standard. Establishing standard 13 interfaces allows the BS, PCF, PDSN, and MSC equipment to evolve independently and 14 to be provided by multiple vendors. 15 1.1.1 Purpose 16 The purpose is to provide the standard for: 17 interfacing an MSC with one or more BSs, 18 interfaci
、ng a BS with one or more BSs, 19 interfacing a PCF with one or more BSs, 20 interfacing one or more PDSNs with one or more PCFs. 21 This document defines the functional capabilities, including services and features, of the 22 specified interfaces. These services and features are the defining charact
、eristics that are 23 the basis for the overall system standard. 24 The MSC-BS interface provides telecommunications services access between a Mobile 25 Switching Center and a base station. It specifically represents the demarcation point 26 between the MSC and the BS which coincides with the Referen
、ce Point “A”. This point 27 establishes the technical interface and designates the test points and operational division 28 of responsibility between the MSC and the BS. The MSC and BS interface is defined as 29 the A1/A2/A5 interface shown in Figure 2.2-1, Reference Model for cdma2000 Access 30 Netw
、ork Interfaces1. 31 This standard fulfills the following criteria: 32 supports current 16, 7 and 10 air interfaces; 33 makes maximum use of existing standards from the TIA and other sources; 34 promotes reliability enhancement, technical innovation, network product availability, 35 and economic comp

、 allows connection of various manufacturers BSs to the same MSC; 1 supports future MSC and BS implementations; 2 allows the separate evolution of MSC and BS technology. 3 The source BS - target BS interface provides for inter-BS soft/softer handoffs. It 4 specifically represents the demarcation poin
、t between two base stations which coincides 5 with the Reference Point “Ater”. This point establishes the technical interface and 6 designates the test points and operational division of responsibility between the source 7 BS and target BS. The source BS and target BS interface is defined as the A3/
、A7 8 interface shown in Figure 2.2-1, “Reference Model for cdma2000Access Network 9 Interfaces”. 10 The BS-PCF interface provides access between the base station and the Packet Control 11 Function for high speed packet data services. It specifically represents the demarcation 12 point between the BS
、 and the PCF which coincides with the Reference Point “Aquinter”. 13 This point establishes the technical interface and designates the test points and 14 operational division of responsibility between the BS and the PCF. The BS-PCF interface 15 is defined as the A8/A9 interface shown in Figure 2.2-1
、, “Reference Model for 16 cdma2000Access Network Interfaces”. 17 The PCF-PDSN interface provides access between a Packet Control Function and a 18 Packet Data Serving Node for high speed packet data services. It specifically represents 19 the demarcation point between the PCF and the PDSN which coin
、cides with the 20 Reference Point “Aquater”. This point establishes the technical interface and designates 21 the test points and operational division of responsibility between the PCF and the PDSN. 22 The PCF-PDSN interface is defined as the A10/A11 interface shown in Figure 2.2-1, 23 “Reference Mo
、del for cdma2000Access Network Interfaces”. 24 The PCF-PDSN interface definition fulfills the following criteria: 25 allows connection of various manufacturers PCFs to the same PDSN and vice versa; 26 makes maximum use of existing standards from the Internet Engineering Task Force 27 (IETF) and othe
、r sources; 28 promotes quality of service and accounting information exchange between the PCFs 29 and the PDSNs; 30 promotes reliability enhancement, technical innovation, network product availability, 31 and economic competition; 32 supports future PCF and PDSN implementations; 33 allows the separa
、te evolution of PCF and PDSN technologies. 34 1.1.2 Scope 35 This standard provides the specification for the interfaces which coincide with the 36 Reference Points “A”, “Ater”, “Aquater”, and “Aquinter” defined in the TR45 Network 37 Reference Model shown in 18. 38 The scope of this standard includ
