10、n 2.3 3 Footwear laces 1 Scope This standard covers four types of braided tubular lace and one type of woven lace made in all cases from nylon or polyester yarns. NOTE a) The standards referred to in this specification are listed in appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser

11、 are listed in appendix B. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification, the definitions given in SANS 10004 and the following definitions apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 2 def

12、ective test sample, test specimen, or a set of test specimens whose average property has been determined, that fails in one or more respects to comply with the relevant requirements of the specification lot not less than 100 and not more than 150 000 pairs of laces (packed or bundled in groups of 10

13、0 or 500 pairs) of the same type, length, colour, and finish of lace ends, made by one manufacturer under essentially the same conditions, and submitted at any one time for inspection and testing 3 Requirements 3.1 General The laces shall be of uniform make, colour, and finish, and shall be free fro

14、m defects that impair their appearance or might impair their serviceability. They shall be delivered in a clean and commercially dry condition and shall not be inferior in quality or appearance to the corresponding standard sample of SANS 770. NOTE If a standard sample differs in any respect from th

15、e specified particulars, the provisions of the specification shall apply. SANS 770:2009 Edition 2.3 4 3.2 Type The laces shall be of one of the types listed in column 1 of table 1, as specified by the purchaser. 3.3 Construction 3.3.1 Types L1, L2, L5, and L6 Types L1, L2, L5, and L6 shall be braide

16、d laces without cores and of uniform cross-section. 3.3.2 Type L7 Type L7 shall be woven laces with a 2/2 twill weave. The selvedges shall be straight, firm, and evenly formed, and in the case of laces woven on a shuttleless loom, the weft yarns shall be so interlocked, at or near the selvedge, by m

17、eans of a locking thread, that unravelling of the selvedge during use is prevented. The method of interlacing of the locking thread with the weft yarns shall be such that a) the locking thread cannot be pulled out of the body of the lace, and b) in the event of a breakdown of the locking thread, con

18、tinuous unravelling of the selvedge will not occur. 3.4 Lace ends Each end of a lace shall be finished by the attachment of a tag of suitable plastics material or by adequate fusing, as specified by the purchaser. Tags shall have a length of at least 11 mm and a gripping strength, determined in acco

19、rdance with 6.11, of at least 65 N. 3.5 Length When measured in accordance with 6.3, the finished length of the laces, including (when relevant) the tags, shall be as specified by the purchaser, subject to the appropriate tolerance given in SANS 977. 3.6 Colour The colour of the laces and, when rele

20、vant, of the tags, shall be an acceptable match to that specified by the purchaser. 3.7 Constructional and physical properties When tested in accordance with the appropriate tests given in 6.4 to 6.10 (inclusive), the laces shall comply with the relevant requirements given in columns 2 to 9 (inclusi

23、laces that comply with the above requirements. 3.8 Abrasion resistance The resistance to abrasion of the laces, when tested in accordance with 6.15, shall be such that no test specimen breaks within the appropriate number of cycles specified in column 10 of table 1. 3.9 Colour fastness to water When

24、 a specimen is tested in accordance with 6.12, any staining of the water shall not exceed 5 on the geometric grey scale for assessing staining. 3.10 Colour fastness to light The light fastness rating of a lace, determined in accordance with 6.14, shall be not lower than 4. 3.11 Slip resistance The s

25、lip resistance of a lace, determined in accordance with 6.13, shall be at least 11 N. 4 Packing and marking 4.1 Packing The laces shall be suitably fastened together in pairs and then packed or bundled in groups of 100 or 500 pairs. Only laces of the same type, length, and colour, and having the sam

26、e type of lace end, shall be packed together in the same package or bundle. The packages or bundles shall be packed in bulk containers that are capable of protecting the contents from damage during normal transportation and handling. 4.2 Marking 4.2.1 Bundles and packages The following information s

27、hall appear in legible and indelible marking on a label securely attached to each package or bundle of laces: a) the manufacturers name or trademark, or both; SANS 770:2009 Edition 2.3 6 b) the type and colour; c) the length; d) the type of lace end, i.e. tagged or fused; and e) the quantity (in ter

28、ms of 100 pairs). 4.2.2 Bulk containers The following information shall appear in legible and indelible marking on the outside of each bulk container: a) the manufacturers name or trademark, or both; b) the type(s); c) the colour(s); d) the length(s); and e) the quantity (in terms of 100 pairs) of e

29、ach type, colour, and length. 4.2.3 Additional marking When so specified by the purchaser, packages/bundles or bulk containers or both shall bear information additional to that specified in 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. 5 Sampling and compliance with the specification NOTE This section applies to the sampling fo

30、r inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. 5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall

31、be applied (after checking for compliance with the requirements of section 4), in determining whether a lot complies with the relevant requirements of the specification. The samples so taken shall be deemed to represent the lot for the respective properties. 5.1.1 Sample for inspection From the lot

32、take at random the number of pairs of laces given in column 2 of table 2 relative to the appropriate lot size given in column 1. 34、s given in column 4 of table 2. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the specification if a) on inspection of the sample drawn in accordance with 5.1.1, the number of defectives found does not exceed the relevant acceptance number given in column 3 of table 2;

35、 and b) on testing of the sample drawn in accordance with 5.1.2, no defective is found. 6 Inspection and methods of test 6.1 Inspection Examine each lace taken in accordance with 5.1.1 for compliance with the requirements of 3.1, 3.3, 3.4 (other than for gripping strength of tags), and 3.6. 6.2 Allo

36、cation of test samples Condition, as described in SANS 70, the laces in the sample taken in accordance with 5.1.2 and determine the length of each lace in accordance with 6.3. Then divide the laces into five sets, each containing an equal number of laces, and no set containing both laces of a pair.

37、Use a different set for each of the following groups of tests: a) Group A. 6.4 and 6.5, or 6.6 and 6.7 (as relevant), 6.8; b) Group B. 6.9, 6.10; c) Group C. 6.11 (when relevant), 6.12; SANS 770:2009 Edition 2.3 8 d) Group D. 6.13, 6.14; and e) Group E. 6.15. 6.3 Length Use SANS 5311. In the case of

38、 laces with fused ends, make a datum mark at a measured distance of 10 mm to 13 mm from each end of the lace under test, secure the ends of the lace in the clamps up to the datum marks, and add the sum of the lengths of the marked ends to the distance between the clamps. 6.4 Number of threads and nu

39、mber of carriers Use the apparatus and procedure given in SANS 5312. 6.5 Plaits per centimetre Use the apparatus and procedure given in the SANS 5314. 6.6 Number of ends in full width Use SANS 86. 6.7 Number of picks per 10 cm Use SANS 86. 6.8 Composition Determine by microscopical examination and c

40、hemical analysis. 6.9 Mass per 100 m Use SANS 5313, but use all the laces in the appropriate group, and measure the length of laces with fused ends as in 6.3. 6.10 Breaking strength Use SANS 13934-1, but use specimens of the full width of the lace.
