Preface SABS 540:1971 was revised to update the contents in accordance with the latest capabilities of the industry. At the same time, the contents were extended to include requirements for coated

9、 boards. The test methods were removed from the original standard and have now been published as separate standards. 20、ated fibreboard fibreboard that has a coating and that may be indented with a pattern 4 Requirements 4.1 Base material The fibreboard used as the base material for coated fibreboard shall be one of the types given in SANS 540-1, as required. 4.2 Coating The coating and the properties of the coating

21、of coated fibreboard shall be of one of the following classes (see table 1), as required: a) class 1; or b) class 2. 4.3 Finished board 4.3.1 Except for the requirements for modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and internal bond, coated fibreboard shall comply with the relevant requirements giv

22、en in SANS 540-1 for uncoated fibreboard. 4.3.2 When tested in accordance with the appropriate test method given in column 4 of table 1, a coated fibreboard shall comply with the relevant requirements given in columns 2 or 3. 5 Packing and marking 5.1 Packing Coated fibreboard shall be so packed tha

23、t it is protected against damage during normal transportation, storage and handling. 5.2 Marking Each board shall bear at least the following information: a) the information required in SANS 540-1; b) the class of coating; c) the gloss rating. 28、of this part of SANS 540 for which tests to assess compliance are not given in 6.2 to 6.10 (inclusive). 6.2 Abrasion resistance Use a test specimen of size 190 mm 203 mm cut from the sample board. Amdt 1 6.3 Fade resistance Use SANS 105-B05, but use a test specimen of size 70 mm 40 mm cut from the s

29、ample board. Amdt 1 6.4 Specular gloss (60) of paint films Use SANS 2813, but use a test specimen of size 100 mm 150 mm cut from the sample board. 32、 Quality verification A.1.1 When a purchaser requires ongoing verification of the quality of coated fibreboard, it is suggested that, instead of concentrating solely on evaluation of the final product, he also direct his attention to the manufacturers quality system. In this connection it should be

33、noted that SANS 9001 covers the provision of an integrated quality system. Amdt 1 A.1.2 If no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of a lot, and a purchaser wishes to establish by inspection and testing of

34、 samples of the final product whether a lot (as defined in A.2.1) of the coated boards complies with this part of SANS 540, the sampling plan given in A.2.2 and based on the stated AQLs shall be applied. (If a different AQL is required, reference should be made to applicable statistical sampling tab

35、les.) Amdt 1 It must be noted that a) such a sampling plan applies to fully manufactured products only; and b) a lot that in terms of the plan is deemed to comply with this part of SANS 540, could contain defective coated boards to an extent proportional to that permitted by the relevant acceptance

36、numbers given in the sampling table. A.2 Assessment of compliance A.2.1 Definitions A.2.1.1 acceptable quality level AQL the maximum percentage defectives that for the purpose of sampling inspection can be considered satisfactory as a process average A.2.1.2 defective a coated fibreboard that fails

37、in one or more respects to comply with the relevant requirements of this part of SANS 540 A.2.1.3 lot not less than 26 and not more than 3 200 coated boards of the same type from one manufacturer, submitted at any one time for inspection and testing NOTE If a lot consists of fewer than 26 coated fib

38、reboards, carry out 100 % inspection and testing. A.2.2 Sampling Use the following sampling procedure to determine whether a lot complies with this part of SANS 540 and deem the samples so taken to represent the lot for the respective properties: a) sample for inspection: from the lot draw at random

Annex B (normative) Notes to purchasers The following requirements must be specified in tender invitations and in each order or contract: a) the type of fibreboard (see 4.1); b) the class and gloss rating of coating (see 4.2

45、80 mm 1 220 mm b) 3,2 mm and 6,4 mm coated boards (woodgrain and textured finishes): 2 440 mm 1 220 mm 2 750 mm 1 220 mm c) 4,0 mm coated boards (woodgrain finishes): 2 745 mm 1 220 mm Annex D (informative) Notes on the storage and handling of coated fibreboards D.1 Stacking of coated fibreboards Co

46、ated boards should be stacked flat on a level surface and not on an edge. All boards should be stacked on pallets or spacer chocks (dunnages). The chocks should be so placed that there is a chock flush with each end of the board. The other chocks should be equally spaced at centres not exceeding 450

47、 mm. Chocks of all consecutive stacks should be vertical above one another (see figure D.1). (For sufficient fork-lift entry and load-bearing area, chocks of size 76 mm 76 mm are suitable.) D.2 Ground contact Coated boards shall not at any time be in contact with the floor or the ground. D.3 Strappi

48、ng Where boards are to be strapped, adequate protectors should be used to prevent straps from cutting into boards. It is common practice to use reject or packing boards at the top and bottom of a stack, but this will not always provide protection from strapping. D.4 Lifting Stacks are best lifted by

49、 fork-lift or sideloader, with forks at a distance of one third of the length of the stack, the forks being of width at least 100 mm and of length at least equal to the width of the stack. Sling lifting is best done using an adequate spreader frame, with slings spaced as for the forks of a fork-lift.
