11、deltamethrin in a hydrocarbon solvent that, when further diluted with an organic solvent, is intended for use as an interior insecticidal timber preservative. NOTE Deltamethrin does not afford any fungicidal timber protection. The possibility does, however, exist of obtaining broad-spectrum activity

12、, when deltamethrin is combined with a recognized and compatible fungicide. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. 17、-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate. 3.4 interior insecticidal timber preservative a preservative that is intended to be used for the treatment of timber used indoors not in contact with the ground and completely protected from leaching and weathering, and that specifically controls only timber-des

18、troying insects 4 Requirements 4.1 General The preservative shall be a clear solution that is free from suspended matter and sediment and that consists essentially of deltamethrin dissolved in an acceptable solvent. If so required, the preservative shall contain an acceptable water repellent or a fu

19、ngicide (or both). 4.2 Detailed requirements The preservative shall comply with the requirements given in table 1. 20、Flash point, C, min. . 38,0 5.5 4.3 Dilution When one part by volume of the preservative is diluted with nine parts by volume of white spirit (or an equivalent solvent), the resultant solution shall be homogeneous and clear, with no insoluble matter. Amdt 1 4.4 Storage stability Amdt 1 When tested i

21、n accordance with 5.6, neither the preservative nor the dilute solution (see 4.3) shall show any sign of separation or crystallization. 4.5 Shelf life After storage under normal conditions in its original unopened container for a period of 12 months from the date of manufacture, the preservative sha

22、ll still comply with all the other requirements of the standard. SANS 1618:2008 Edition 1.1 5 5 Inspection and methods of test All reagents used shall be of analytical grade, and all water shall be distilled or deionized water. 5.1 Inspection Inspect the containers taken in accordance with B.2.2 (se

23、e annex B) for compliance with all the relevant requirements of the standard for which tests to assess compliance are not given in 5.3 to 5.6 (inclusive). 5.2 Test samples Use the composite test sample taken in accordance with B.2.3 (see annex B). 5.3 Deltamethrin content NOTE Any comparable method

24、may be used. 5.3.1 Apparatus HPLC apparatus, fitted with an absorbance detector that is capable of reading at a wavelength of 254 nm, and with a reversed-phase C18 column. 5.3.2 Reagents 5.3.2.1 Standard deltamethrin, standard analytical grade of known purity. 5.3.2.2 HPLC mobile phase, a mixture of

25、 80 % acetonitrile and 20 % distilled or deionized water. 5.3.3 Test conditions 5.3.3.1 Detector: set at 254 nm. 5.3.3.2 Column temperature: ambient. 5.3.3.3 Flow rate: 1,2 mL/min. 5.3.3.4 Retention time: approximately 6 min. 5.3.4 Preparation of standard solution In a 50 mL volumetric flask, weigh,

26、 to the nearest 0,1 mg, approximately 50 mg of standard deltamethrin (see 5.3.2.1). Dissolve in, and make up to volume with, the HPLC mobile phase (see 5.3.2.2). Prepare two standard solutions (solutions S1and S2). 5.3.5 Preparation of sample solution In a 50 mL volumetric flask, weigh, to the neare

27、st 0,1 mg, approximately 50 mg of active material equivalent of sample. Dissolve in, and make up to volume with, the HPLC mobile phase (see 5.3.2.2). Prepare two sample solutions (solutions T1and T2). Keep the standard and sample solutions away from light and use them within 24 h. SANS 1618:2008 Edi

28、tion 1.1 6 5.3.6 Procedure 5.3.6.1 Inject 20 L of the standard solution through the column until the peak area of two successive injections agrees to within 2 %. 5.3.6.2 Inject 20 L each of the standard and sample solutions in succession through the column, in the following sequence: S1T1; S2T1; S1T

29、2; S2T25.3.7 Calculation Calculate the deltamethrin content of each of the four groups (see 5.3.6.2), in grams per litre, as follows: 1221mDmD P where D1is the deltamethrin peak area of the sample solution (T1or T2); D2is the deltamethrin peak area of the standard solution (S1or S2); m1is the mass o

30、f sample in the sample solution corresponding to the peak area used in D1(T1 or T2), in grams; m2is the mass of the standard in the standard solution corresponding to the peak area used in D2(S1or S2), in grams; and P is the purity of the deltamethrin standard, in grams per litre. The four results s

31、hould agree to within 3 % of the mean value. If not, discard the results and repeat the analysis. Check for compliance with the relevant requirement given in table 1. 5.4 Relative density Use ASTM D1298 IP160. Check for compliance with the relevant requirement given in table 1. 5.5 Flash point Use A

32、STM D93 IP34. Check for compliance with the relevant requirement given in table 1. SANS 1618:2008 Edition 1.1 7 5.6 Storage stability Store a full closed 500 mL container, undisturbed in an upright position, at a temperature of 23 C 2 C. Examine after a period of 30 d and again after a period of 12

33、months. Amdt 1 Check for compliance with 4.4. 6 Packing and marking 6.1 Packing The preservative shall be so packed as to prevent leakage or contamination (or both) of the product. It shall be packed in containers that are strong enough to withstand normal handling, transportation and storage. These

34、 containers may then be packed in bulk packages. Only material from the same batch shall be packed in a container and, when relevant, in a bulk package. 6.2 Marking Each container shall be labelled in accordance with the regulations prescribed by relevant legislation (see foreword). 35、:2008 Edition 1.1 8 Annex A (normative) Notes to purchasers The following requirement shall be specified in tender invitations and in each order or contract: whether the preservative shall contain a water repellent or a fungicide or both (see 4.1). Annex B (normative) Quality verification of insecti

36、cidal deltamethrin for interior use B.1 Quality verification When a purchaser requires ongoing verification of the quality of the timber preservative, it is suggested that, instead of concentrating solely on evaluation of the final product, he also direct his attention to the manufacturers quality s

37、ystem. In this connection it should be noted that SANS 9001 covers the provision of an integrated quality system. Amdt 1 B.2 Sampling and compliance with the standard B.2.1 Sampling B.2.1.1 General The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot, submitted for inspecti

38、on and testing, complies with the relevant requirements of this standard. The sample so drawn shall be deemed to represent the lot. B.2.1.2 Definitions B.2.1.2.1 defective timber preservative or its container that fails in one or more respects to comply with the appropriate requirements of the stand

39、ard B.2.1.2.2 lot that quantity of timber preservative bearing the same batch identification, from one manufacturer, and submitted at any one time for inspection and testing B.2.2 Sample for inspection From the lot take at random a) five containers, if the lot is packed in containers of net volume n

40、ot exceeding 5 L; or b) three containers, if the lot is packed in containers of net volume exceeding 5 L. SANS 1618:2008 Edition 1.1 9 B.2.3 Sample for testing From the containers taken in accordance with B.2.2, draw, as follows, enough timber preservative to provide a composite sample of total volu

41、me at least 1 L: Take samples of approximately equal volume from the containers and immediately pour the samples into a clean, dry, airtight glass or plastics bottle clearly marked with the manufacturers name or trade mark, the batch identification and the date of sampling. Before drawing a sample,

42、thoroughly mix the contents of the relevant container. B.2.4 Compliance with the standard The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of this standard if, after inspection of the containers and testing of the sample taken in accordance with B.2.3, no defective is found. Annex C (normativ

43、e) Application of deltamethrin C.1 The use of deltamethrin shall be restricted to the treatment of timber to be used indoors in dry conditions e.g. mouldings, ceilings, flooring, joinery and furniture. C.2 Timber treated with deltamethrin shall be marked prominently to indicate that it has been treated with an insecticide under the HO classification of SANS 10005.
