5、ises RATIONALE This companion standard to “SAE/EIA-649B Configuration Management Standard,“ is needed to provide a resource that standardizes Configuration Management (CM) requirements specific to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) agreements and design activities. This Standard pr
6、ovides a template of CM requirements and user guidance for tailoring the requirements for each unique use case. This standard has been revised to incorporate content changes proposed by the G33 Committee that were not included in the original release. FOREWORD SAE International publishes this compan
7、ion standard to the NASA-endorsed SAE/EIA-649B for NASA to provide uniform CM requirements for NASA enterprise agreements and activities. The Office of the Chief Engineer-NASA Headquarters, the NASA Field Centers, including Component Facilities, and the SAE governing CM Council, approve this Standar
8、d for use. This document is used as a stand-alone reference, invoked by an agreement where the customer intends to be consistent with the NASA-endorsed ANSI/EIA-649 principles, and may be used for all NASA enterprises in all phases of the program/project/activity life cycle. We also acknowledge the
9、NASA CM Community of Practice, the NASA CM Standards Project Team, and the SAE G33 Committee for their support in developing this companion standard. SAE INTERNATIONAL EIA-649-2 Page 2 of 48 INTRODUCTION This Standard provides a consistent and systematic set of requirements that are used for the man
10、agement of Configuration Items (CIs) delivered to, or produced by, the Agency that does the following: a. Identifies the configuration of a product at various points throughout its life cycle; b. Systematically controls changes to the configuration of the product; c. Maintains the integrity and trac
11、eability of the configuration of the item throughout its life; and d. Preserves the information for the product configuration. The requirements support the planning and implementation of a Configuration Management (CM) system as described by the functions and principles of SAE/EIA-649B. The requirem
12、ents are grouped using the five functions: (1) CM Planning; (2) Configuration Identification (including interface management); (3) Change Management (Configuration Control); (4) Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) (including configuration traceability); and (5) Configuration Verification and Audit
13、s. Requirements are numbered and indicated by the word “shall.“ Explanatory or guidance text is indicated in italics beginning in Section 4. NOTE: For simplicity, when this document uses the term Configuration Item (CI), the requirement or guidance presumes the inclusion of all computer software con
14、figuration items (CSCIs), unless otherwise specified. All CSCIs which are selected by the Customer are subject to the same criteria as are hardware elements designated as CIs.
