SCOPE This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers solid polyte
6、trafluoroethylene (PTFE) retainers (back-up rings) for use in static glands in accordance with AS5857. They are for use in hydraulic and pneumatic system components as anti-extrusion devices in conjunction with O-rings, packings and other elastomeric seals. Because of the construction of groove dime
7、nsions, back-ups specific to rod applications are designated “R” - Rod (Female), back-ups specific to piston applications are designated “P” - Piston (Male). Retainers specified herein have been designed for a temperature range of -65 to 275 F (-54 to 135 C) and a nominal operating pressure of 3000
8、psi (20 684 kPa) for code 09 material and 5000 psi (34 474 kPa) for code 10 material. Material codes are based on AMS3678 material types. 2. 14、9, Virgin PTFE with Pigment Parts made to material code 09 of this standard shall conform to AMS3678/9, Pigmented Virgin PTFE, Molded. “R” (Rod) applications shall be green per AMS3678/9. “P” (Piston) applications shall be brown per AMS3678/9. 3.1.2 Code 10, PTFE With 15% Carbon Fiber Parts made to
15、material code 10 of this standard shall conform to AMS3678/10, Virgin PTFE Moldings or Extrusions with 15% Carbon Fiber. Color shall be black or dark gray. 3.2 Dimensional Requirements Parts shall conform to Figure 1 and the dimensions listed in Table 1. NOTE: Dimensions are based on nominal ring “O
16、D” equal to minimum A for piston back-up rings and nominal ring “ID” equal to maximum B for rod back-up rings. A and B dimensions are from AS5857.
