2、and update of this specification that revises cutting restrictions, macrostructure, steel cleanliness, decarburization, and reporting requirements.1. SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a premium aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, flash welded ring
3、s, and stock for forging or flash welded rings.1.2 ApplicationThese products have been used typically for heat treated parts up to 4 inches (1102 mm) round or equivalent cross-section that may be welded during fabrication, requiring through-hardening to high strength levels and that may be used at o
4、perational stress levels approaching the yield strength, but usage is not limited to such applications. This steel may become notch-sensitive when heat treated to a tensile strength level of 240 ksi (1655 MPa) or higher.1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to becom
5、e susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking after heat treatment. ARP1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.2. 18、tion variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2259 except that carbon shall vary not more than 0.01 under minimum or over maximum, and no variation over maximum will be permitted for phosphorus and sulfur.3.2 Melting PracticeSteel shall be multiple melted using consumable electrode va
19、cuum process in the remelt cycle.3.3 ConditionThe product shall be supplied in the following condition; hardness and tensile strength shall be determined in accordance with ASTM A 370:3.3.1 Bars3.3.1.1 Bars 0.500 Inch (12.70 mm) and Under in Nominal Diameter or Least Distance Between Parallel SidesA
20、nnealed and cold finished having tensile strength not higher than 130 ksi (896 MPa), or equivalent hardness (See 8.2).3.3.1.2 Bars Over 0.500 Inch (12.70 mm) in Nominal Diameter or Least Distance Between Parallel SidesHot finished and annealed, unless otherwise ordered, having hardness not higher th
21、an 248 HB, or equivalent (See 8.3). Bars ordered cold finished may have hardness as high as 262 HB, or equivalent (See 8.3).3.3.1.3 Bar shall not be cut from plate (Also see 4.4.2).3.3.2 Forgings and Flash Welded RingsAs ordered.3.3.2.1 Flash welded rings shall not be supplied unless specified or pe

When supplied, rings shall be manufactured in accordance with AMS7496.3.3.3 Mechanical TubingCold finished, unless otherwise ordered, having hardness not higher than 25 HRC, or equivalent (See 8.3). Tubing ordered hot finished and annealed shall have hardness not
