2、this specification to agreement of testing material outside the sizes of 1.1 (3.5.1.1.1.2), revise melting to restrct subsequent melting to VAR (3.2), add AMS2368 to sampling, the addition of AS6279 (3.8) and revise reporting (4.4).1. SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a titanium alloy in the fo
3、rm of extruded bars, tubes, and shapes, and of flash welded rings upthrough 4.00 inches (101.6 mm) in diameter or least distance between parallel sides and stock for flash welded rings.1.2 ApplicationThese products have been used typically for parts requiring high strength up to 750 F (399 C), parti
4、cularly those parts machined and/or flash-butt welded in the annealed condition with the option of subsequent solution and precipitation heat treatment, but usage is not limited to such applications.1.2.1 Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject
5、 to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 CompositionShall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1; carbon shall be determined in accordance with ASTM E 1941, hydrogen in accordanc
16、e with ASTM E 1447, oxygen and nitrogen in accordance with ASTM E 1409, and other elements in accordance with ASTM E 2371. Other analytical methods may be used if acceptable to the purchaser. 18、the applicable requirements of AMS2249. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4937D Page 3 of 73.2 Melting PracticeAlloy shall be multiple melted. The first melt shall be made by vacuum consumable electrode, nonconsumable electrode, electron beam cold hearth, or plasma arc cold hearth melting practice. The subsequen
19、t melt or melts shall be made under vacuum using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) practice. Alloy additions are not permitted in the final melt cycle.3.2.1 The atmosphere for nonconsumable electrode melting shall be vacuum or shall be argon and/or helium at an absolute pressure not higher than 1000 mm of
20、mercury.3.2.2 The electrode tip for nonconsumable electrode melting shall be water-cooled copper.3.3 ConditionThe product shall be supplied in the following condition:3.3.1 Bars, Tubes, and ShapesExtruded, annealed, straightened and detwisted as required, and descaled.3.3.1.1 Extrusions may be desca
21、led by wet or dry abrasive blasting, by chemical procedures, or by other methods acceptable to purchaser.3.3.2 Flash Welded RingsFabricated in accordance with AMS7498 and annealed.3.3.3 Stock for Flash Welded RingsAs ordered by the flash welded ring manufacturer.3.4 Heat TreatingAt the option of the
22、 extrusion manufacturer, straightening and detwisting operations may be performed in conjunction with annealing. Pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750.3.4.1 AnnealingExtruded shapes and flash welded rings shall be annealed by heating to a temperature within the range 1300 to 1500 F (704 to 8
23、16 C), holding at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 2 hours 0.25, and cooling to room temperature.3.4.2 Stress-RelievingWhen specified by purchaser, extruded shapes and flash welded rings shall be stress-relieved after any forming operation performed below 1050 F (566 C) for dimensiona
24、l control, sizing, or proof testing. Product shall be stress-relieved by heating to a temperature within the range 900 to 1100 F (482 to 593 C), holding at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 2 to 4 hours, and cooling in air.3.5 PropertiesThe product shall conform to the following requir
