TAPE, TEXTILE; WEBBING, TEXTILE; RAYON The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers ray

3、on tape and webbing. 1.2 Classification. The rayon tape and webbing shall be of the following types and widths as specified (see 6.2). Type I - Flat-weave tape Type Ia - Flat-weave webbing Type II - Tubular-weave webbing For widths - (see TABLE I) 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents l

Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first a

16、rticle inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally prefrable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requireme

17、nts, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Standard. Where applicable, the dyed webbing shall match the standard for shade and appearance and shall, unless otherwise indicated, be equal to or better than the standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard i

18、s referenced (see 6.1). 3.4 Material. 3.4.1 Yarns. The rayon yarns for the warp and filling shall be bright multifilament viscose rayon (see 6.3) except that the yarns for the Type I, 1/2 inch tape shall be bright, semi-dull or dull multifilament viscose rayon. 3.3 Physical requirements. The finishe

The weave of the tape and webbing shall be as specified in 3.3.1.1 through 3.3.1.3. Page 3 of 10 Copyright

22、Protected: Do Not Copy!PIA-T-5237B 3.3.1.1 Type I. For the 9/16, l -1/8, and 1/2 inch widths of tape, the weave shall be plain, 1 up and 1 down. The 1 inch tape shall be either plain weave, 1 up and 1 down or a 2 up and 2 down herringbone twill weave, with one reversal of twill in the center of the

23、tape. 3.3.1.2 Type Ia. For the 3/8 inch and 1 inch widths of webbing, the weave shall be a 2 up and 2 down herringbone twill with one reversal of twill in the center of the webbing. For the 9/16 inch webbing, the weave shall be plain 1 up and 1 down. The 1-5/8 inch webbing shall be either plain weav

24、e, 1 up and 1 down or a 2 up and 2 down herringbone twill weave with one reversal of twill in the center of the webbing. 3.3.1.3 Type II. The weave for all widths shall be a tubular plain weave, 1 up, 1 down face and back, except that the 3/16 inch width shall have transfer of filling from the face

25、to the back in the center of the webbing. 3.4 Color. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity (see 6.2), the color of the tape or webbing shall be the natural white of the finished yarn. 3.4.1 Marker thread. When specified (see 6.2), the tape or webbing shall contain 1 end of warp yarn d

26、yed red to match cable No. 70180 woven into the center of the face of the tape or webbing. The use of solution dyed yarn is permissible. 3.4.2 Colorfastness. The dyed yarn woven into the center of the tape or webbing shall have a colorfastness rating of “good“ to water when tested as specified in 4.

27、4.3. 3.4.3 Colorfastness (Type I, 1/2 inch). The dyed tape shall show good fastness to wet dry cleaning and crocking, when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.4.4 Visual shade matching. When evaluated in accordance with 4.4.4, the color of the dyed tape or webbing shall match the standard with sources s

28、imulating artificial daylight and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight. 3.5 Finish. The tape or webbing shall have a smooth and even finish. 3.5.1 Nonfibrous materials. The water-soluble and chloroform-soluble materials of the tape or webbing shall not exceed 2.0 percen

29、t when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.5.2 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the tape or webbing shall be no less than 5.5 nor more than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.6 Length. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the tape and webbing shall be furnished in rolls or on spools as fo

30、llows: Holders for Type I tape and Type Ia, webbing - 250 10 yards Holders for Type II webbing - 144 10 yards Not more than two pieces shall be allowed in each roll or spool, and no piece shall be less than 10 yards. 3.7 Fiber identification. When directed in the procurement document or purchase ord

31、er, each roll or spool of finished tape or webbing shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 32、form to the quality of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 3.9 Date of manufacture (see 6.2). When required by the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile

33、 materials by placing a tag on the finished goods or label on the containers identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects

34、 the physical characteristics of the material. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.2) 2. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. The first article submitte

35、d in accordance with 3.2 shall be inspected as specified in 4.3 through 4.3.1 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in this document unless otherwise specified in the con

36、tract or order (see 6.2). 4.3.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced specifications drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this speci

37、fication or applicable procurement document. 4.3.1.1 Certificates of Compliance. Where Certificates of Compliance are submitted, the procuring activity reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.4 End item inspection. 4.4.2 Yard-by-yard examination. Th

38、e required yardage of each roll or spool shall be inspected on both sides and visual defects classified in accordance with TABLE III. All defects found shall be counted regardless of their proximity one to another, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of the tape or we

39、bbing, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warp-wise yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs. The sample unit for this examination shall be 1 linear yard. Inspection sampling and procedure shall be in accordance

40、 with ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. The inspection level shall be II and the Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL), expressed interms of defects per hundred units, shall be 0.40 major and 1.5 total defects. The lot size shall be expressed in units of 1 yard each. An approximate equal number of yards shall be examined fro

41、m each roll or spool selected. The number of rolls or spools from which the sample is to be selected shall be in accordance with TABLE II.
