10、 Domaine dapplication This standard is intended to facilitate communication in the field of electronic imaging. It presents, in two languages, terms and definitions of selected concepts relevant to this field of information technologies and identifies relationships among the entries. In order to fac

11、ilitate their translation into other languages, the definitions are drafted so as to avoid, as far as possible, any peculiarity attached to a language. 36、t of this standard, beginning with O1 for ccFundamental terms. Each entry is assigned a four-digit index number; the first two digits being those of the part of this standard. In order that versions of this standard in various languages are related, the numbers assigned to parts, and entries are the

48、erms can be defined by texts that differ only in a few words, the terms and their definitions are grouped in a single entry. The words to be substituted in order to obtain the different meanings are placed in brackets, .e. I, in the same order in the term and in the definition. To avoid uncertainty regarding the words to be substituted, the last word that according to the above rule could be placed in front of the opening bracket is, wherever possible, placed inside the bracket and repeated for each alternative. 1.3.9 Use of terms
