19、vern. 3.2 First article. when specified, the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3 and 6.2). 3,3 Material. * 3.3.1 Base cloth. The basic cloth for the leggings shall be .cotton duck, conforming to type I, hard texture, No. 6 or No. 8, of CCC-C-419
20、. Selvage stripes are not permitted. The cloth shall be bleached white, conforming to type V, class C, of CCC-I)-950. The webbing used for the footstrap on the leggings shall be cotton, 5/ T+! inc in width, conforming to type III, class 2, of MIL-W-530. . 22、in width, conforming to type I, class 2, of MIL-T-43566. 3.3.4 Laces, le in s. The laces shall be cotton, conforming to MIL-L-396 and shall eches long. 3.3.5 Thread. The thread used for seaming and stitching the leggings shall be polyester, conforming to type I or II, class 1, subclass A, sizes B an
23、d E, of V-T-285. The color shall approximate the whiteness of the base cloth (see 3.3.1) and component parts (see 3.3.2, 3.3.3 and 3.3.4). 3.3.6 Hardware. 3.3.6.1 Lacing eyelet and neck washer. The lacing eyelet and neck washer shall be made of brass and shall h ave a black finish in accordance .wit
24、h 3.3.6.7. The lacing eyelet shall conform to part No. A 1396 or equal and the neck washer shall conform to part No. A 1365 or equal (see 6.4 and 6.5). 3.3.6.2 Lacinq hook and washer. The finish shall be black che
28、mical finish in accordance with MIL-F-495 and lacquer or clear epoxy resin coated. As an alternate, the finish may be black enamel finish with a minmum of two coats. * 3.3.7 Label. Each legging shall be marked with a combination size, identification and instruction label conforming to type III or IV
29、, class 14, of DDD-L-20, except that the height of characters indicating the size shall be a minimum of 3/4 inch solid or open print type. Figure 1 is furnished for information purposes only. To the extent of any inconsistencies between the written specification and the fi
33、gure, the written specification shall govern. 0 * 3.5 Patterns. Standard patterns provide 1/2 inch seam allowance for double-lapped and double-stitched seams. Standard patterns to be used to cut working patterns will be furnished by the Government (see 6.3). The working patterns shall be identical t

Stitch, seam and stitching types specified in Table I shall conform to FED-STD-751. Whenever two or more methods for seam or stitch types are given
37、for the same part of the operation any one may be used. Seam allowance shall be maintained with seams sewn so that no raw edges, runoffs, twists, pleats, puckers or open seams result. All seams shall start and finish evenly. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there is no tight or loose stitc
38、hing. Where stitch type 401 is used, the looper (underthread) shall be on the inside of the leggings. Top stitching and edge stitching shall be 1/16 to 1/8 inch from the edge, The gage for double-lapped and double-stitched seams shall be 1/4 to 5/16 inch. End of all seams and stitching when not caug
39、ht in other seams or stitching shall be backtacked not less than 1/4 inch. The ends of a continuous line of stitching shall be overlapped not less than 1/2 inch. Thread breaks (all stitch type) shall be repaired by stitching back of the break not less than 1/2 inch. Skipped stitches or thread breaks
40、 on 401 stitch type may be repaired by using 301 stitch type. When ends of overedge stitching are not caught in other seams or stitching, the ends shall be tacked. 3.6.2 Thread breaks and end of seams. 3.6.3 Stitches per inch. The minimum and maximum number of stitches per inch shall be as specified
41、 in Table I. * 3.7 Manufacturing operation requirements. The leggings shall be manufactured in accordance with the operation requirements specified in Table I. The contractor is not required to-follow the-exact sequence of operations listed provided that the finished leggings are identical to that p
42、roduced by following the sequence of operations as listed in Table I. * 3.7.1 Size markin . The component parts of leggings shall be marked, ticketed or 40 insure uniform size throughout the leggings. Any method may be used except: (1) Metal fastening devices. (2) Sew-on size tickets.
