SCOPE This standard specifies the method of Rockwell A, B, C and Rockwell superficial N and T hardness test for metallic materials mainly

    3、 used by GMDAT. 3. DEFINITIONS 3.1. Rockwell and Rockwell superficial hardness When the diamond or ball indenter is preliminary pressed under the standard load, additionally applied the test load and then applied the standard load again, the hardness shall be determined by the difference between the

    4、 depth of indentations under those two standard loads mentioned above and also by using the defining formula. When the standard weight is 10kgf (98.07N), it is nominated Rockwell hardness and when 3kgf (29.42N), it is Rockwell superficial hardness. 3.2. Scale of hardness and its content Scale Indent

    17、mm 12.700 0.0025mm 5. TEST PIECE 5.1. For initial sample approval purposes, at least 3 test pieces shall be tested and for routine quality control, at least 1 test piece shall be tested. 5.2. As a rule, the test surface of the test piece and its reverse side surface shall be even and parallel to eac

    18、h other. When the test piece is made of sheet with bow and its reverse side is not flat, spot anvil shall be applied to test. 5.3. In case the hardness is measured on the curved test surface, the compensated value shall be added to the measured hardness value to be the hardness value of the test pie

    19、ce. 5.4. The test piece shall sufficiently be thick (10 times the difference of depth made by pressing of indenter in general) so that, as a rule, no deformation shall be visible at the reverse side of the test piece due to the occurrence of indentation. 5.5. The test surface and its reverse side su

    20、rface shall be smooth and clean, and shall be free from pollution of lubricant. 6. TESTER 6.1. The tester to be applied to Rockwell or Rockwell superficial hardness test shall conform to KS B 5526 (Rockwell Hardness Tester). 6.2. When the main parts are disassembled, rebuilt, reset or the indenters

    21、are replaced, the tester shall be reconfirmed to accuracy according to KS B 5526 (Rockwell Hardness Tester).     22、eding clause 4.2., the tester shall be confirmed to an accuracy specified in KS B 5526(Rockwell Hardness Tester) with a definite interval depending on the frequency of testing. 6.4. The tester shall be settled on a stand having sufficient stability and shall be worked by placing the mounting axis of

    23、 indenter in perpendicular thereto. 7. TEST 7.1. The hardness test shall be performed at a room temperature of 235. 7.2. When the indenter, sample stage and etc. are assembled or replaced, or when the elevating screw for sample stage is moved to align with a large stroke, and when the work is about

    24、to be carried out, twice or more preliminary operation which is the same as the measuring procedure of hardness shall be conducted, and then the hardness test shall be carried out. 7.3. When measuring the hardness, as a rule, the distance from the center of any indentation to an edge of the test pie

    25、ce shall be at least 2.5 d (d is the diameter of the indentation) and when tests are performed 2 times or more, the distance between the centers of two adjacent indentations shall be at least 4 d in principle. 7.4. The test piece shall be placed so as to the mounting axis of indenter being perpendic

    26、ular to the test surface. 7.5. Throughout the loading operation, the test load shall be applied to increase or decrease smoothly to protect the indenter and test piece from shock or vibration. 7.6. The duration time of loading shall generally be 2 6 seconds. 8. DESIGNATION OF HARDNESS 8.1. Unless ot

    27、herwise specified, the hardness value shall be recorded up to first decimal place below point in accordance with KS A0021(The end of a number). 8.2. The Rockwell and Rockwell superficial hardness shall be designated in the order of the symbol of hardness, the symbol of scale and hardness value. Exam
