    2、atex based,water borne, paint type sealer.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material applied by sealsuppliers to the O.D. of oil seals to ultimately provide an oil tight sealbetween the oil seal O.D. and the housing bore of rear wheel bearingassemblies and transmission rad

    3、ial oil seal assemblies.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process

    4、/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established

    5、 for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test

    6、 values indicated herein are based on material conditioned ina controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.3.4 CLEANINGSurfaces to be coated shall be cleaned free from greas

    7、e, oil, rustand/or other foreign materials and shall be thoroughly dry beforecoating is applied.NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN2014 N Status No replacment named L.     10、e determined by measuring the O.D. of the seal in 4 positionsas received and then remeasuring in the same loc ations after removingthe coating with a suitable solvent.3.12 ADHESION OF COATINGCut an “X“ in the coate d surface to the metal in several places witha razor blad e. Press scotch tape onto t

    11、he area firmly. After 5minutes, remove the tap e, pulling at a direct tangent to the outsidediam eter of the seal. Regardless of the rate of tape removal, nocoating shall adhere to the tape.3.13 FLAKING OR POWDERINGScrape the coated surface until clean metal appears. The scrapingsshall be free from

    14、 Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials ad

    15、dressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shal

    16、l first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative

    17、 of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to thi

    18、s specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5.
