SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an energy absorbing composite consisting of hollow ceramic spheres of nearly constant diameter bonded together by a polyu

    3、rethane type monolithic polymer. 2. APPLICATION This specification was originally released as an impact absorbing material for light truck steering columns. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard

    4、Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 CERAMIC SPHERES 3.4.1 Bulk Density 0.448 +/- .02 g/cm3(ASTM D 4180, except 250 mL volumetric flask) 3.4.2 Sieve Analysis, min 96% (ASTM E 276, amount retained on a #7 screen) 3.4.3 Crushing Strength 206 +/- 35 kPa Test Method: Fill a 76 x 7

    5、6 x 76 mm punch and die set with 250 mL of spheres, tapping to ensure maximum packing of spheres. Place the top punch gently on the bed of spheres, making sure that it is parallel with the lower punch. Assemble the punch and die set with spheres in a mechanical tester. Load the assembly at a rate of

    6、 15 mm per minute. At 9 kg begin reading the load every 0.5 seconds, adding the weight of the upper die punch. Continue measurements through crosshead travel of 9 mm. The packed bed crushing strength is the average load over 9 mm crosshead travel divided by the punch area. Calculate the average valu

Place crucibles in muffle furnace at 540 +/- 5 C for 1 h. Cool to 23 +/- 2 C and reweigh crucibles. Compute the % of weight loss (binder) and % of retained weight (spheres). 3.6.2 Flammability (ISO 3795) Burn Rate, max 100 mm/minute
