    2、 primer surfacer.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was originally released for material used as spot repairprimer on interior and exterior surfaces of vehicle bodies.The primer is used over current production primer surfacer and on areassanded through to bare metal.The prim er is suitable for use wit

    3、h either solvent borne topcoats orwaterborne basecoats.The material is suitable for electrostatic spray application.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is requ

    4、ired for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l ana

    5、lysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the

    6、reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless othe

    8、quirement is as determined by the United StatesEnvironmental Protection Agency Reference Method #24 and isonly applicable to materials used in the USA.3.5 MATERIAL PROPERTIES3.5.1 Non-volatile see Initial Sample +/- 1 %;(FLTM BI 102-01) min 25 %The n on-volatile content shall be determined at a spra

    9、yviscosity of 30 s according to para 3.5.4.3.5.2 Density see Initial Sample +/- 0,02 g/mL(ASTM D 1475)3.5.3 Viscosity as supplied see Initial Sample +/- 5 s(FLTM BI 111-01)3.5.4 Spray Viscosity as specified by the supplier(FLTM BI 111-01, FC #3)The primer can be reduced with Xylene (WSK-M14J239-A).3

    10、.5.5 Storage Stability: 90 daysDuri ng a storage of 90 days between 5 and 32 C temperaturethe m aterial as supplied shall not settle up or cakeinsol uble. After the storage the material must pass allspecification requirements.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST SPECIMEN3.6.1 Preparation of Test Panels(FLTM BI 1

    11、03-02, Method A)Substrate: Standard Steel Panels UMA18005.Primer:Dry film thickness: 20 - 25 micrometreAir drying: 15 minutesSanding:After air drying, the primer shall be sanded and wiped offwith cleaning petrol ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M6J162-AWP 3948-b Page 3 of 6 Top Coat:Application

    12、 of Ford Engineering approved current productiontop coat materials, film thickness and baking as specified inthe relevant Material specification.Colours: Two coat silve r metallic and solid colour black andwhite.3.6.2 Preparation of Repair Panels:Sta ndard Steel Panels, zinc phosphated according toW

    13、SK-M 3P1-C shall be electrocoated with current approvedelect rocoat primer and primed with current approved primersurf acer. Film thickness and baking as specified in therelevant Material Specifications.The Test panels shall b e sanded through to bare metal in thecentre in a spot of 30 mm diameter u

    14、sing P400 sanding paperand cleaning petrol. After wipe off with cleani ng petrol thepanels are primed and painted as shown in 3.6.1.3.6.3 AgeingTest panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C beforetesting for resistance properties.3.7

    15、 APPEARANCE (Primer only)Col our, gloss and surface finish shall match master Trim Sampleand/or Master Appearance Sample as approved by Design.3.7.1 Colour light grey or(FLTM BI 109-01) beige3.7.2 Gloss, visual matt3.8 PAINT FILM PROPERTIES3.8.1 LevelingThe sur face of the primer shall be smooth wit

    16、hout anystructure and not more than a minimum of orange peel whenapplied in a dry film thickness of 25 micrometre.3.8.2 HoldoutNo evidence of dulling, no craters or pinholes and no changein i mage clarity when enamel colour coat is applied overunsanded repair primer.Test pan els prepared according t

    18、sanded (P800) by hand withoutclogging.3.9 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.9.1 Adhesion No chipping(FLTM BI 106-01, Method B)3.9.2 Stone Chip Resistance, max. R 4(FLTM BI 157-04)3.9.3 Salt Spray Resistance, min. 120 h(FLTM BI 103-01)No b listering and no rust on the panel surface and no morethan 3 mm rust cre

    19、epage and loss of adhesion from a scratchscribed to the bare metal.3.9.4 Water Immersion Test, min. 120 h(FLTM BI 104-01)One hour after test end investigation of adhesion 3.9.1.No blistering, loss of gloss or loss of adhesion accepted.3.10 FLORIDA WEATHERING 12 months(FLTM BI 160-01)Test Pa nels or

    20、Specimens painted according to para 3.6 of thisspecification shall be exposed in the area of Miami, Florida, 5 degfacing south for 12 months exposure time.Examination:Blistering, peeling, cr acking, crazing, chalking, yellowing, loss ofgloss or any other deterioration.Test Specimen shall be equal to

    21、 or better than the Master Sampleapproved by Materials Laboratory of Product Engineering.3.10.1 Water Immersion Test, 24 h No blistering(FLTM BI 104-01)The Florida Panels shall be tested after evaluation 3.10.3.10.2 Adhesion No chipping(FLTM BI 106-01, Method B)Adhesion shall be tested 24 h after te

    22、st 3.10.1.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M6J162-AWP 3948-b Page 5 of 6 3.11 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSTest Panels and painted parts prepared according to thisspecification shall meet all requirements of performancespecifications for Vehicle Body WSK-M2P136-A.3.12 QUALITYThe primer must be adapta

    23、ble for application in accordance withappropriate Ford Motor Company Process Specification U-C800.The primer must be compatible with all related materials e.g.:sealers, adhesives, electrocoat primers and paint materials.3.13 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must b

    24、e equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr ior to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the

    25、 materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identificati

    26、on areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engine

    27、eringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Des

    28、ign and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the require

    29、ments of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeti ng the requirementsof thi s specification, the materials will be assessed for suitability forintended applications as part o f the app
