    2、ing, twopart, foamed-in-place polyether polyurethane (PUR) foam. This foam isformulated to be free of chloroflourocarbons (CFC).2. APPLICATIONThi s material is intended for use in areas where a water, dust and airbarrie r is required. These applications include, but are not limited to:interior trim,

    3、 and HVAC (Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning).There are no requirements for a dhesion of the material to substrate. Thismaterial must be mechanically held in place on the part.Roboti c application of this material would allow for design and use of anint ricate sealing surface that would prove too co

    4、st prohibitive usingtraditional, manually applied, adhesive-backed die-cut foam gaskets.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source appr

Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts suppl

    6、ied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when teste

    14、ead of the foam-in-place gasket materialshall be applied onto a polished plate glass in a U-shapedconfiguration at a foam density representative of end-use criteria.The dimensions of the bead should be 7 mm +/- 1 mm in height and 5 mm+/- 1 mm in width. The dimension of the U-shaped configurationshou

    15、ld be 120 mm +/- 2 mm from the horizontal outside edges and 120mm +/- 2 mm from the bottom (outside edge) to the top.The foa med samples are to be conditioned at 25 C +/- 2 C and at arelativ e humidity of 50 % =/- 5 % for at least 16 hours prior totesting.Sample assembly is performed by placing a se

    16、cond polished glass plateonto the foam bead sample. Spacers are to be co nstructed to maintaina dista nce between the glass plates of 70 % +/- 2 % of the totalheight of the sample fo am bead. The spacers are to be of a materialthat is dimensionally stable from - 40 C to 150 C. C-clamps can beused to

    23、inally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall not

    24、ify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, reg

    25、ulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Supplier

    26、s desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed

    27、by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
