SCOPE The materials defined by this specification are medium granule size cork with a synthetic rubber binder specifically formulated for inje

    3、ction molding. On contact with motor oil, they will exhibit high swell without disintegrating or weeping. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for materials used for oil pan and rocker arm cover gaskets where oil sealing at low flange loading is required. 3. REQUIREMENTS Materia

    4、l specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. All tests and preconditioning shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104, Type 2 materials, unless otherwise specified. Specimens are to be selected from the finished gasket. When it is not feasible to obtain s

    5、pecimens from the part, the supplier must obtain written approval from the affected product engineering office to waive the requirement. 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 FINISHED PARTS 3.2.1 Original P

    10、Stability Test Method: 3 test specimens approximately 25 x 190 mm are cut from sample sheets. Specimens from finished gaskets may differ in width and length and should not include bolt holes. These specimens are preconditioned in a controlled humidity room (or in a closed chamber with gentle mechani

    11、cal circulation of the air) for 70 h minimum at 21 to 29 C and 50 + 5% R.H. Specimens are then measured for original length. Expose vertically hung test specimens in a controlled temperature and humidity chamber for 7 days at 38 C and 95-100% R.H., followed by 7 days at 38 C and 15-20% R.H. Length o

    12、f test specimens is measured after each of these two 7-day exposure periods. Average % change in length after each exposure is calculated, based on the original lengths previously determined. Permissible dimensional changes are as follows: After 7 days At 38 C and 95-100% R.H. 0 to +3.0% At 38 C and

    13、 15-20% R.H. -1.0 to +1.0% 3.2.6 Ash 8.0-13.0% (ASTM D 297) 3.2.7 Toluene Extract 20-28% (ASTM D 297, except to calculate use weight of sample before and after extraction) 3.3 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constit

    14、ute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions.     15、2, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.4 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes to the material originally approved under this specification,

    16、whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities (with reasons) of the proposed changes. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. No

    17、te: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test data and samples demonstrating compliance to this specification, if requested. Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substa

    18、nce Management Standard WSS-M99P9999-A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification for direct supply to the Company must have prior approval. Certain materials subcontracted by part suppliers may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys bus

    19、iness for regulatory, safety, environmental or compatibility requirements or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification.
