SCOPE This is an extended environment-resisting hybrid construction (metal sleeve in nonmetallic shell) connector. Metallic surfaces indicated on figure 1 are finish

    11、ed with olive drab cadmium plate over a suitable underplate. Other surfaces are uncoated nonmetallic for corrosion resistance. REQUIREMENTS: Connectors shall meet the requirements of MIL-DTL-38999, series III, class W, with the following exceptions and additions. Dimension and configurations: See fi

    12、gure 1. Interface dimensions shall confirm to MIL-DTL-38999. For insert arrangements: See MIL-STD-1560. Salt spray (corrosion): The wired, assembled connectors shall meet the dynamic salt spray requirements of MIL-DTL-38999, with the following exceptions: The connectors shall be tested 1052 hours ma

    13、ted, followed by 48 hours unmated. Hydrolytic stability: Unmated, unwired connectors shall be subjected to the following tests: a. Measure connector weight. b. Boil in distilled water until no further weight gain is observed. c. Connector may be dried with filtered compressed air. d. When connector

    14、weight has stabilized, measure percent total weight gain, mating dimensions and length. e. Mate the connector and apply specified coupling torque. f. Inspect the connectors for damage. The connector shall be without defects detrimental to mechanical performance. Total weight gain shall be less than

    15、0.75 percent. When subjected to coupling torque values specified in series III, coupling torque of MIL-DTL-38999, there shall be no evidence of cracking, breaking or loosening of parts. Lighting strike: Mated connectors with suitable accessories shall be subjected to a simulated lighting current pul

    16、se exposure. The current pulse shall be applied by a suitable high current generator and the current waveform shall be monitored and recorded by a current transformers (or current shunt) and storage oscilloscope. The test pulse shall be a damped sinusoid with a basic frequency of 21 kHz and an ampli

    17、tude decay time of 140 microseconds to 37 percent of its peak value. Pulse amplitude shall be 60 kA. The receptacle connector shall be mounted on a simulated panel, using its normal mounting provisions. The simulated current pulse shall be applied between the plug accessory and the receptacle mounti

    18、ng panel. Upon completion of the pulse application, and without disturbing the test sample, the shell-to-shell conductivity test of MIL-DTL-38999 shall be performed.
