This drawing describes the requirements for a tool used to install and remove termini from fiber optic connectors per CECOM drawing A3302584. 1.2 Part or Ident

    4、ifying Number (PIN). The complete PIN shall be as follows: 04055 | Drawing number 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification o

    5、r recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirements of documents in sections 3 and 4 of this specification, whether or not they are listed. 2.2 G

    6、overnment documents. 2.2.1 Other Government documents, drawings, and publications. The following other Government documents, drawings, and publications form a part of this document to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified, the issues of these documents are those cited in the solici

    7、tation or contract. CECOM drawing A3302584 Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies (Copies of this drawing are available by email at Charles.Alcottus.army.mil or by calling (732) 532-3741). 2.3 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, th

    8、e text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Interface and physical dimensions. See figure 1. 3.2 Functional. Tool shall be capable of capturing a terminus an

    9、d using only hand force applied, the tool shall be capable of compressing the terminus spring. Applying only hand pressure, the tool shall also be capable of lifting the terminus 12 inches above the horizontal surface and holding it for not less than 30 seconds without the terminus falling or being

    10、ejected from the tool. With the spring compressed and a wire looped around the exposed termini body diameter, the tool shall be able to exert a force of 16 ounces minimum on the wire. 3.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable

    11、 materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.4 Materials. Materials utilized shall be selected for wear characteristics. Provided by IHSNo

Allows clearance for insertion of tool between adjacent termini for jaw lengths (NOTE: This may not apply to optional jaw configuration). 4. Precludes interference between tool and terminus retainer plate for jaw lengths perpendicular to te

    14、rminus axis (NOTE: This may not apply to optional jaw configuration). 5. Upper limit of dimension assures that rear spring compression bushing is properly positioned for installation onto terminus retainer plate. Lower limit of dimension prevents over-compression of terminus spring. 6. Metric equiva

    15、lents are given for general information only. 7. Tool is designed for use with terminiutilized in connectors perCECOM drawing A3302584. 8. Cutouts in jaws of toolshall be configured to permit entry into the designated areas of the termini. 9. Relationship of the top and bottom jaws of the tool must

    16、be as follows: a. Tool includes a stop to prevent over compression ofthe spring (see note 5). b. Compression of the terminus spring to its minimum of .520 inch (13.21 mm) (see note 5),does not result in the terminus being ejected from the tool. 10. Jaw configurations are provided in this figure for

A certificate of compliance shall be required from manufacturers requesting to be a suggested source of supply. 3.6 Marking. Marking shall consist of the PIN as specified herein (see 1.2), the manufacturers name or Commercial

    19、and Government Entity (CAGE) code, and date lot codes. 3.7 Workmanship. The tool shall be uniform in quality and free from any defects that will affect life, serviceability, or appearance. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Sampling and inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling and inspection procedures sha

    20、ll be performed in accordance with conformance inspection specified using sampling plan indicated. 4.1.1 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall consist of inspections necessary to verify compliance to figure 1 or optional configuration allowed and requirements listed herein including t

    21、he functional requirement (see 3.2). 4.1.2 Sampling plan. A sample of parts shall be randomly selected from each lot in accordance with table I, if one or more defects are found, the lot shall be rescreened and defects removed. After screening and removal of defects, a new sample of parts shall be r

    22、andomly selected using the sample size of the next larger lot size specified in table I. If one or more defects are found in the second sample, the lot shall be rejected and shall not be supplied to this drawing. TABLE I. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When packaging of materiel is to be performed b

    24、y DoD or in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activities within the Military Service or Defense Agency, or within the mili

    25、tary services system commands. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. This tool is intended to be used for installation

    26、 and removal of termini from second generation tactical fiber optic connectors.
