SCOPE 1.1 This Standard applies to tubular rigid metallic support members and associated fittings intended for

、the support and connection of supply service wires for installations operating at potentials of 750 volts or less in accord- ance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.2 This Standard applies to equipment for use with consumers services in domestic and commercial locations, consi

、sting of not more than four conductors. 2. DEFINITION Support member means the vertical metallic tubing to which the service-drop-attachment fittings may be readily attached at the upper end; which has suitable means for the proper installation of the consumers service conductors and which will acco

、mmodate the fittings used for attach- ment to the building. 3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General requirements applicable to these requirements are given in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0, Definitions and General Requirements. 3.2 Where reference is made to other publications, such references shall be consi

、dered to refer to the latest edition approved by the organization issuing that publication. 4. CONSTRUCTION 4.1 General. The design of support members and associated fittings shall be such that when they are installed in the field, the assembly will have the necessary strength and rigidity to withst

、and the stresses to which it may be subjected in service. 4.2 Support Member 4.2.1 The support member shall be rigid metallic tubing having an outside diameter of 2 inches, 2/ inches, 2 inches, or 3 inches. The tolerances on the outside diameter shall be plus and minus 0.015 inch. 4.2.2 The inside s

、urface of the support member shall be free from sharp edges and projections at welded sections etc., which could damage the insu- lation of the service-entrance conductors or the outer covering of cables. 4.3 Support Clamps. Support clamps shall be suitable for clamping the support member with which

、 they are intended to be used, to the wall (and roof members, where applicable) of the building. Standard conduit straps 8 GSA STANDARD C22.2 No. 82 are not acceptable for this purpose. A through-wall bolt shall be not smaller than -inch diameter, trade size. 4.4 Roof Plates. Roof plates and flashin

、gs if of ferrous metal shall meet the requirements of Clause 4.8. 4.5 Service-drop Attachment 4.5.1 Insulator racks intended for use with individual service-drop conductors shall maintain a spacing of at least 8 inches between the con- ductors at the point of attachment. 4.5.2 Insulator racks shall

、meet the test requirements of Clauses 6.1.2.1 and 6.1.2.3. 4.5.3 The mounting of the service-drop attachment on the support member shall be of the clamp type which does not require drilling of the support member in the field. 4.5.4 Service-drop attachment insulators shall have adequate moisture- res

、istant and dielectric properties. 4.6 Service-entrance Heads 4.6.1 Service-entrance heads shall be suitable for the support member with which they are intended to be used. 4.6.2 Service-entrance heads shall provide a raintight connection and shall have an integral end stop for the support member pro

、viding a smooth well-rounded opening not larger than the internal diameter of the support member. Not more than two insulated holes and one uninsulated hole shall be left open. 4.6.3 Service-entrance heads shall comply with pull-out, resistance, and rain tests covered in Clauses 6.2 and 6.3. 4.7 Sup

、port Member Terminations. Support member terminations shall be suitable for the connection of the lower end of the support member to the service conduit. The terminations shall be subject to the pull-out, resistance, and rain tests of Clauses 6.2 and 6.3. 4.8 Protection Against Rusting. All ferrous

、metal parts of support members and fittings shall be protected against rusting in accordance with CSA Standard G164, Hot Dip Galvanizing of Irregularly Shaped Articles. 5. MARKING 5.1 General. Markings shall comply with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0, Definitions and General Requirements. 5.2 Support Memb

、ers and Associated Fittings 5.2.1 Each support member and fitting shall be plainly and perman- ently marked with the following information: (a) The manufacturers name, trademark or other equivalent identi- fication; (b) The catalogue number, model number or type designation, where practicable; and (

、c) The standard size (i.e. 2, 2/2, 2, or 3). TUBULAR SUPPORT MEMBERS AND ASSOCIATED FITTINGS FOR DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL SERVICE MASTS 5.2.2 Markings shall be located so that they are readily visible after installation. 5.2.3 The marking of the support member shall appear at each end of the tubing a

、nd be located approximately 6 inches therefrom. NOTE: Ink markings may be accepted subject to special investigation to determine their permanency. 6. TESTS 6.1 Loading 6.1.1 Support Members 6.1.1.1 Support members shall withstand without damage the application of a cantilever load of 600 pounds appl

、ied in accordance with Clause 6.1.1.2 and Figure 1. A permanent displacement of the free end of the support member shall not exceed 3 inch. 6.1.1.2 The pull shall be applied evenly and increased from zero at a rate not exceeding 300 pounds per minute until the required value is attained. It shall be

、 maintained at this value for a period of 5 minutes. 6 ChCS 60 nChCS 6 inches Support ; Support 13 600 I ounds FIGURE 1 LOADING TEST FOR SUPPORT MEMBERS 6.1.2 Fittings 6.1.2.1 Clamps, brackets and racks shall withstand a pull test as outlined in Clauses 6.1.2.2 and 6.1.2.3 as applicable, without dam

A pull of 400 pounds shall be gradually applied and maintained for a period of 1 minute between the support member and the fitting in line with the major axis of the assembly. The sample shall be capable of withs

、tanding the test without damage to the fitting or separation of the fitting from the support member. 6.2.3 Following the pull-out test, a current of 30 amperes shall be circu- lated through the connection between the support member and the fitting. The voltage drop measured across the connection sha

、ll not exceed 15 milli- volts. 6.3 Rain. Service entrance heads and support member terminations when assembled in the intended manner and supported in the normal position shall not permit the entrance of water when subjected to an artificial rain test for Enclosure 3 as specified in CSA Standard C22
