It is written in SI (metric units and supersedes the previous edition published in 1984. recog

    28、nize the present state of the art, and to permit upgrading of fluids and fluid systems to meet requirements for fire resistance. The categories are described as follows: (a) Category 1: These fluids are the most fire resistant and show no measurable flams persistence in the flammability tests specif

    29、ied in this Standard. (b) Category 2: These fluids are not as fire resistant as the fluids in Category 1 but still meet the flammability tests (with longer flame persistence) specified in this Standard. (c) Category 3: These fluids are considerably more fire resistant than mineral oils but are only

    30、required to pass the spray flammability test in this Standard. They are usually compatible with systems designed to use mineral oil. of Mines for a Standard to cover the safety aspects of hydraulic fluids, which are used extensively in the hydraulic systems of mining machinery. (a) Clause 4.3, Fluid

    31、 Stability: The acceptable oil separatioia for water in oil emulsions has been decreased from 3% to 2%. (b) Clause 4.4, Toxicity: This Clause has been expanded to include detailed criteria on acute toxicity, acute skin irritation, acute eye irritation, sensitization, and chronic toxicity. (c) Clause

    32、 5.1, Preconditioning Test: The preconditioning test is now to be carried out only on non-aqueous hydraulic fluids. (d) Clause 5.4.3, Freeze-Thaw Stability Test: The number of cycles of exposure completed in this test has been increased from two cycles to seven cycles. This Standard was prepared by

    33、the Technical Committee on Fire Resistant Hydrau!ir Fluids under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Electrical and Mechanical Mine Safety, and was formally approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada. May

(3) CSA Standards are subject to periodic review, and suggestions for their improvement will be referred to the appropriate committee. Scope 1 .I This Standard covers the fire resistance, toxicity, and stability with respect to separation of water-in-oil emulsions of

    40、 hydraulic fluids intended for use at mines. 1.2 This Standard covers fluid in the following categories: (a) Category l-fluid that shows no measurable flame persistence (ie, less than 1 s) in either of the flammability tests specified in this Standard; (b) Category 2-fluid that passes both the spray

    41、 and wick flammability tests specified in this Standard; (c) Category 3-fluid that passes the spray ignition test specified in this Standard but may not be capable of passing the wick test. 1.3 This Standard does not cover products of combustion or products of thermal degradation from hydraulic flui

    42、ds subjected to fire or heating. Note: While the object of this Standard is to establish a reasonable level of fire resistance for hydraulic fluids, it is recognized that any hydraulic fluid may burn under conditions different from those described in this Standard. 2. Definitions 2.1 The following d

    43、efinitions apply in this Standard: Fire resistant (as applied to hydraulic fluids)-a fluid that will meet the fire resistance tests specified in this Standard. LD, (median lethal dose) dermal-a statistically derived single dose of a substance that can be expected to cause death in 50% of treated ani

    44、mals when applied to the skin. LD, (median lethal dose) oral-a statistically derived single dose of a substance that can be expected to cause death in 50% of treated animals when administered by the oral route. 3. Reference Publications 3.1 This Standard refers to the following publications and wher

    45、e such reference is made it shall be to the edition listed below, including all revisions published thereto: CSA Standard B140.2.2-1971 (Reaffirmed 1980), Pressure Atomizing Oil Burner Nozzles.     46、for Flash Point by Pensky-Martens Closed Tester. D93-80, 4. Requirements 4.1 Spray Ignition When tested in accordance with Clause 5.2, the continuous burning time of the atomized fluid spray after removal of the ignition source shall not exceed 30 s during any of the ten trials for each test conditi

    47、on. If only one trial indicates a burning time in excess of 30 s, the entire spray ignition test procedure shall be repeated and, if there are no burning times in excess of 30 s during the second set of trials, results shall be considered acceptable. 4.2 Wick (Flammability) When tested in accordance

    48、 with Clause 5.3, all six results for each of the five exposure times shall be recorded. The average of each set of six results shall not exceed 60 s in continuous burning time. 4.3 Fluid Stability (For Water-in-Oil Emulsions Only) When tested in accordance with Clause 5.4, the oil separation shall

    49、not exceed 2% by volume and the water separation shall not exceed 1% by volume in each of the two tests. 4.4 Toxicity 4.4.1 Acute Toxicity 4.4.1.1 For components comprising 10% or greater by weight of the fluid or for the fluid itself, the LD50 (oral) shall be greater than 500 mg/kg body weight (BW) and the LD, (dermal) shall be greater than 1000 mg/kg BW, when tested in an animal assay. 4.4.1.2 For components comprising less than 10% by weight but greater than 1%, the LD, (oral) shall be greater than 50 mg/kg BW and the LD50 (dermal) shall be greater than 200 mg/kg BW when tes
