7、e direction of the Textiles and Clothing Standards Policy Committee and is a revision of BS4973-4:1981 which is withdrawn. BS4973 is published in four Parts as follows: Part 1: Nonwoven sew-in interlinings; Part 2: Nonwoven fusible interlinings; Part 3: Woven and knitted fusible interlinings; Part 4

8、: Specification for woven sew-in interlinings. When BS4560 was revised in1980, it was agreed to limit its scope to lining fabrics and to prepare this Part of this British Standard to specify requirements for a range of woven sew-in interlinings selected from those interlinings specified in BS4560. B

9、S4973 is intended to provide a range of interlinings which will meet public and private sector requirements. It is intended that the interlinings specified in this standard should be used in conjunction with the linings specified in BS4560 and the outer fabrics specified in BS1771. Garment suppliers

10、 and purchasers should take account of all the environmental conditions (such as exposure to heat and water) likely to be met during use, to ensure the most suitable fabric is specified. Many properties cannot be specified objectively and cannot therefore be included in this standard. Examples of su

11、ch properties include colour, handle, appearance and details of additional design features. Purchasing authorities should be able to supply standard patterns which cover these properties and which may thus serve to resolve any ambiguities of description. A British Standard does not purport to includ

Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. In particular, attention is drawn to Statutory Instrument1986 No.26, the Textile produ

Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages1 to 4, an inside back cover and a back cover. Construction and performance requirements

15、are given inTable 1.Appendix A gives recommended fabrics for various end uses. Supplementary information for MOD contracts is given inAppendix B. Linen interlinings shall be made from fibre spun from retted flax. NOTE 1Yarns should be evenly spun, fabrics should be uniformly woven, and selvedges shou

NOTE 2Interested parties may agree that a flame retardant treatment may be applied, and may agree on the flammability pe

18、rformance which should be met and on the garment cleaning procedures. NOTE 3Interlinings made from fabrics complying with this standard should be satisfactory under normal conditions of use. If they are to be used in garments which will be subjected to frequent cleansing,e.g.firemens uniforms, then

19、allowances should be made for the effects such frequent cleansing treatments may have on certain of the fabric properties. Garment suppliers and purchasers should take account of all the environmental conditions (such as exposure to heat and water) likely to be met during use, to ensure the most sui

If dyed, interlinings shall, when tested in accordance with section DO1 of BS1006:1990 have a minimum rating for change in colour of4 and a minimum rating for staining of34. 4 Sampling A sample shall be taken either from each batch, or from at least every5000m of fabric, w
