Terminology3.1 DefinitionsUse Terminology D1711 for definitions ofterms used in the

Classification4.1 Types:4.1.1 Type IAlow voltage rubber insulating tape designedfor use on wires and cables operating up to 2000 V phase tophase in dry locations with conductor temperatures up to 80 C(176 F) for cont

    6、inuous operation, up to 95 C (203 F) foremergency overload conditions, and up to 150 C (302 F) forshort-circuit conditions. For outdoor use, protect the tape fromozone attack and ultraviolet radiation by the use of a suitableoverwrap. Apply the tape to the wire or cable within anambient temperature

    7、range of 10 and 40 C (14 and 104 F).4.1.2 Type IIA medium voltage, ozone-resistant, rubberinsulating tape designed for use with wires and cables operat-ing up to 35 000 V phase to phase in either wet or drylocations with conductor temperatures up to 90 C (194 F) forcontinuous operation, up to 130 C

    8、(266 F) for emergencyoverload conditions, and up to 250 C (482 F) for short-circuitconditions when installed in accordance with the manufactur-ers instruction. For wet or dry outdoor use, protect the tapefrom ultraviolet radiation by the use of a suitable overwrap.Apply the tape to the wire or cable

    9、 within an ambienttemperature range of 10 and 40 C (14 and 104 F).4.1.3 Type IIIA high voltage, ozone-resistant, rubber in-sulating tape designed for use with wires and cables operatingup to 138 000 V phase to phase in either wet or dry locationswith conductor temperatures up to 90 C (194 F) for con

    10、tinu-ous operation, up to 130 C (266 F) for emergency overloadconditions, and up to 250 C (482 F) for short-circuitconditions when installed in accordance with the manufactur-ers instructions. This tape is suitable for wet or dry outdooruse. Apply the tape to the wire or cable within an ambienttempe

    11、rature range of 10 and 40 C (14 and 104 F).4.1.4 Type IVA nonmetallic semi-conducting tape de-signed for shielding various portions of joints and terminationsin electrical wires and cables operating at any voltage underwet or dry conditions with conductor temperatures up to 90 C(194 F) for continuou

    12、s operation, or up to 130 C (266 F) foremergency overload conditions. This tape is suitable for wet ordry outdoor use. Apply the tape to the wire or cable within anambient temperature range of 10 and 40 C (14 and 104 F).4.1.5 Type VA higher voltage, ozone-resistant, rubberinsulating tape designed fo

    13、r use with wires and cables operat-ing up to 325 000 V phase to phase in either wet or drylocations with conductor temperatures up to 90 C (194 F) forcontinuous operation, up to 130 C (266 F) for emergencyoverload, and up to 250 C (482 F) short-circuit conditionswhen installed in accordance with the

Physical Properties5.1 The tape shall consist of a non-crosslinked or partiallycrosslinked rubber nonmetallic semi-conducting or insulatingcompound. The compound shall be well, evenly, and smoothlyprocessed, cut to the specifi

    18、ed widths, and tightly wound inrolls with a separator between layers. Where a non-removableseparator is used, the separator will be considered an integralpart of the tape.5.2 The separator shall be parchment paper, glazed orplastic sheeting, or any suitable material interposed betweenadjacent layers

    19、. The removable or non-removable separatorshall not interfere with the use of the roll during application.Where a removable separator is used, the separator shall bereadily removable from the rubber insulation without tearing ordamaging the tape insulation. The outside end of the roll shallbe secure

    20、ly fastened.5.3 Rubber tapes shall conform to the requirements of Table1.6. Permissible Variations in Dimensions6.1 The tape shall conform to the nominal dimensions foundin Table 2 when tested in accordance with Test MethodsD4325.6.2 The average thickness shall not vary from the nominalthickness by

    21、more than 60.076 mm (60.003 in.) and theaverage width by more than 60.76 mm (60.03 in.).6.3 The average length of the rolls in any sampling shall beno less than the nominal length.7. Aging and Storage7.1 Tapes shall not become unduly attached to the separa-tors within the period of time specified in

    22、 Table 3.7.2 Store the tape in the original boxes, preferably in a cooldark location. Do not keep tapes in close proximity to steampipes, radiators, or other sources of heat.8. Test Methods8.1 Select rolls, conditioning, and testing in accordance withTest Methods D4325.8.2 Unless otherwise stated, m

    23、easurements are made ontapes from which the removable separator has been removed.9. Rejection and Retest9.1 If only one sample roll fails to meet the specification,take a second set of samples in accordance with Test MethodsD4325. Failure of two sample rolls constitutes grounds forrejection.10. Insp

    24、ection10.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponby the purchaser and seller as part of the purchase contract.10.2 If inspection is required, the tape shall be tested andinspected either at the place of manufacture prior to shipmentor at the place of delivery within four weeks from

    25、date ofdelivery.11. Packaging and Package Marking11.1 PackagingUnless otherwise specified, the tape orcarton shall be securely wrapped and sealed in a moisture-proof material to protect the contents.11.2 Package MarkingEach box shall be marked with thename of the manufacturer or trademark, nominal w
