Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers a thermoplastic insulation ofpoly(vinyl chloride) or the copol

    3、ymer of vinyl chloride andvinyl acetate.1.2 This insulation is recommended for use at conductortemperatures not in excess of 60C in wet or dry locations at amaximum voltage rating of 600 V for power and controlcircuits.1.3 In many instances, the insulation material cannot betested unless it has been

    4、 formed around a conductor or cable.Therefore, tests are done on insulated wire or cable in thisspecification solely to determine the relevant property of theinsulation material and not to test the conductor or completedcable.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard.     17、lation thicknesses given in Table 2 when such cables donot have a thermoplastic jacket or metallic sheath over theassembly.5.2.3 Where the thickness of the insulation is increased formechanical reasons or for special service conditions, determinethe test voltage in Table 2 by the size of the conduct

    18、or and therated voltage.5.3 Insulation Resistance:5.3.1 Insulated conductors in sizesAWG 26 (0.13 mm2) andlarger shall have an insulation resistance of at least thatcorresponding to a constant of 500 MV-1000 ft at 60F(15.6C).5.3.2 If the temperature at the time measurement was madediffers from 60F (

    19、15.6C), correct the insulation resistance to60F by multiplying the measured value by the proper correc-tion factor from Table 1, Temperature Correction Factors forInsulation Resistance at 60F, of Methods D2633.5.4 DC Voltage TestUpon completion of the insulationresistance test, test each non-shielde

    20、d insulated conductor for 5min at a dc withstand voltage which is three times the ac testvoltage specified in Table 2. Unless otherwise specified, omitthis test if the ac withstand voltage test described in 5.2 isperformed.5.5 Accelerated Water AbsorptionThe insulation shallmeet the requirements in

    21、Table 3.5.6 Dielectric Strength Retention The insulation shall becapable of meeting a dielectric strength retention of at least50 % of the original dielectric strength when tested at atemperature of 50 6 1C.6. Thickness of Insulation6.1 The average thickness of the insulation shall be at leastthat p

    22、rescribed in Table 2. The minimum thickness shall be atleast 90 % of the thickness prescribed in Table 2.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 Apply the insulation directly to the surface of theconductor or conductor covering and obtain a tight fit to thatsurface.7.2 Repairs and JointsWhen makin

    23、g repairs or joints inthe insulation, do the work in such a manner that the repairedpart of the joint, and all parts affected by the process, meet thesame electrical tests as the remainder of the insulation andmaintain the limitations on the thickness specified in Section 6.8.
