Scope1.1 This specification covers re

    3、inforced arch-shaped con-crete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrialwastes, storm water, and for the construction of culverts.1.2 This specification is the SI companion to SpecificationC 506.NOTE 1This specification is a manufacturing and purchase specifica-tion only, and does not

    4、 include requirements for bedding, backfill, or therelationship between field load condition and the strength classification ofpipe. However, experience has shown that the successful performance ofthis product depends upon the proper selection of the class of pipe, typeof bedding and backfill, and c

The owner of the reinforced concrete pipespecified herein is cautioned that he must correlate the field requirementswith the class of pipe specified and provide inspection at the constructionsite.2. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms relating to con-crete pipe, see Terminology C 822.4. Classification4

    11、.1 Pipe manufactured according to this specification shallbe of three classes identified as ClassA-II,A-III, andA-IV. Thestrength requirements are prescribed in Table 1.5. Basis of Acceptance5.1 Unless otherwise designated by the owner at the time of,or before placing an order, there are two separat

    12、e and alterna-tive bases of acceptance. Independent of the method ofacceptance, the pipe shall be designed to meet both the 0.01-in.crack and ultimate strength requirements.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C13 onConcrete Pipe and is the direct responsibility of Subcomm

    15、terial Tests, and Inspection of Manufactured Pipe for VisualDefects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in alldiameters and classes produced in accordance with 7.1 or 7.2shall be determined by the results of the three-edge-bearingtests as defined in 11.3.1; by such material tests as are requi

    16、redin accordance with 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6, by an absorption testof the concrete from the wall of the pipe for each mix designthat is used on an order; and by visual inspection of the finishedpipe to determine its conformance with the accepted design andits freedom from defects.5.1.2 Acceptance on

    17、 the Basis of Material Test and Inspec-tion of Manufactured Pipe for Defects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in all diameters and classes producedin accordance with 7.1 or 7.2 shall be determined by the resultsof such material tests as are required in accordance with 6.2,6.3, 6.5, and 6.6

    18、; by crushing tests on concrete cores or curedconcrete cylinders; by an absorption test of the concrete fromthe wall of the pipe for each mix design that is used on anorder; and by inspection of the finished pipe, including amountand placement of reinforcement, to determine its conformancewith the a

    19、ccepted design and its freedom from defects.5.1.3 When agreed upon by the owner and the manufacturer,any portion or any combination of the tests itemized in 5.1.1 or5.1.2 may form the basis of acceptance.5.2 Age for AcceptancePipe shall be considered ready foracceptance when they conform to the requ

    20、irements as indicatedby the specified tests.6.     30、and “V ” are measured on the center line of the culvert wall.C 506M 08a26.2 Cementitious Materials:6.2.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirementsof Specification C 150, or shall be portland blast-furnace slagcement, or slag modified portland cement, or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to th

    31、e requirements of Specifica-tion C 595, except that the pozzolan constituent in the Type IPportland pozzolan cement shall be fly ash and shall not exceed25 % by weight.6.2.2 Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBFS)GGBFS shall conform to the requirements of Grade 100 or 120of Specification C 989.

    32、6.2.3 Fly AshFly ash shall conform to the requirements ofClass F or Class C of Specification C 618.6.2.4 Allowable Combinations of Cementitious MaterialsThe combination of cementitious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following:6.2.4.1 Portland cement only,6.2.4.2 Portland blast fur

    33、nace slag cement only,6.2.4.3 Slag modified portland cement only,6.2.4.4 Portland pozzolan cement only,6.2.4.5 A combination of portland cement and groundgranulated blast-furnace slag,6.2.4.6 A combination of portland cement and fly ash, or6.2.4.7 A combination of portland cement, ground granu-lated

    34、 blast-furnace slag (not to exceed 25 % of the totalcementitious weight) and fly ash (not to exceed 25 % of thetotal cementitious weight.6.3 AggregatesAggregates shall conform to SpecificationC33except that the requirement for gradation shall not apply.6.4 Admixtures and BlendsThe following admixtur

    35、es andblends are allowable:6.4.1 Air-entraining admixture conforming to SpecificationC 260;6.4.2 Chemical admixture conforming to SpecificationC 494/C 494M;6.4.3 Chemical admixture for use in producing flowingconcrete conforming to Specification C 1017/C 1017M; and6.4.4 Chemical admixture or blend a

    36、pproved by the owner.6.5 Steel ReinforcementReinforcement shall consist ofwire conforming to Specification A 82/A 82M or SpecificationA 496/A 496M; or of wire reinforcement conforming to Speci-fication A 185/A 185M or Specification A 497/A 497M;orofbars conforming to Specification A 36/A 36M, Specif

    37、icationA 615/A 615M Grade 40 or 60, or Specification A 706/A 706M Grade 60.6.6 Synthetic FibersCollated fibrillated virgin polypropy-lene fibers may be used, at the manufacturers option, inconcrete pipe as a nonstructural manufacturing material. OnlyType III synthetic fibers designed and manufacture

    38、d specifi-cally for use in concrete and conforming to the requirements ofSpecification C 1116 shall be accepted.7. Design7.1 Size and DimensionsThe standard sizes of arch pipeare listed in Table 1. The internal dimensions for each standardsize shall be as defined in Fig. 1, subject to the permissibl

    39、evariations of Section 12.7.2 Design TablesThe wall thickness, compressivestrength of concrete, and the area of circumferential reinforce-ment shall be as prescribed in Table 1, subject to the provisionsof 7.3, 11.4, and Section 12.7.2.1 Footnotes to the tables herein are intended to beamplification

    40、s of the tabulated requirements and are to beconsidered applicable and binding as if they were contained inthe body of the specification.7.3 Modified and Special Designs:7.3.1 If permitted by the owner, the manufacturer mayrequest approval by the owner of modified designs that differfrom the designs

    41、 in this Section 7 or special designs for sizesand loads beyond those shown in Table 1, or special designs forpipe sizes that do not have steel reinforcement areas shown inTable 1.7.3.2 Such modified or special designs shall be based onrational or empirical evaluations of the ultimate strength andcr

    42、acking behavior of pipe and shall fully describe to the ownerany deviations from the requirements of this Section 7. Thedescriptions of modified or special designs shall include thewall thickness, the concrete strength, and the area, type,placement, number of layers, and strength of the steel rein-f

    43、orcement.7.3.3 The manufacturer shall submit to the owner proof ofthe adequacy of the proposed modified or special design. Suchproof may comprise the submission of certified three-edge-bearing tests already made, which are acceptable to the owneror, if such three-edge-bearing tests are not available

    44、 or accept-able, the manufacturer may be required to perform proof testson sizes and classes selected by the owner to demonstrate theadequacy of the proposed design.7.3.4 Such pipe must meet all of the test and performancerequirements specified by the owner in accordance withSection 5.7.4 AreaIn thi

    45、s specification, when the word area is notdescribed by adjectives, such as cross-sectional or single wire,it shall be understood to be the cross-sectional area ofreinforcement per unit lengths of pipe.8. Reinforcement8.1 Circumferential ReinforcementA line of circumferen-tial reinforcement for any g

    46、iven total area may be composed oftwo layers for pipe with wall thicknesses of less than 180 mmor three layers for pipe with wall thicknesses of 180 mm orgreater. The layers shall not be separated by more than thethickness of one longitudinal plus 6 mm. The multiple layersshall be fastened together

    47、to form a single cage. All otherspecification requirements such as laps, welds, and tolerancesof placement in the wall of the pipe, etc., shall apply to thismethod of fabricating a line of reinforcement.8.1.1 Where one line of reinforcement is used, it shall beplaced so that the cover of the concret

    48、e over the circumferentialreinforcement at the vertical and horizontal diameters of thepipe is 25 mm from the inside and outside surfaces of the pipe,except for wall thicknesses less than 62 mm, the protectivecover of the concrete over the circumferential reinforcement inthe wall of the pipe shall b

    49、e 18 mm.8.1.2 Where two lines of reinforcement of arch shapecorresponding to the contour of the pipe are used, each lineshall be so placed that the covering of concrete over thereinforcement is 25 mm.C 506M 08a38.1.3 The location of the reinforcement shall be subject tothe permissible variations in dimensions given in 12.5.
