(7.94 to 19.05 mm) excl in diameter,hot or cold finished, annealed, and pickled or mechanicallydescaled.1.2.2 Rods34 to 312 in. (19.05 to 88.9 mm) incl in diameter,hot or cold finis

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 rod, na product of rou

Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for the safe and satisfactoryperformance of material ordered under this specification.Examples of such requirements include but are not lim

    9、ited tothe following:4.1.1 DimensionsNominal diameter and length. Theshortest usable multiple length shall be specified (Table 1).4.1.2 CertificationState if certification or a report of testresults is required (Section 15).4.1.3 Purchaser InspectionState which tests or inspec-tions are to be witnes

    10、sed (Section 13).4.1.4 Samples for Product (Check) AnalysisState whethersamples shall be furnished (9.2.2).5. Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 2.5.2 If a product (check) analysis is made by the purchaser,the material

    11、 shall conform to the requirements specified inTable 2 subject to the permissible tolerances in SpecificationB880.6. Mechanical Properties and Other Requirements6.1 The mechanical properties of the material at roomtemperature shall conform to those shown in Table 3.1This specification is under the j

Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 DiameterThe permissible variations from the speci-fied diameter shall be as prescribed in Table 4.7.2 Out-of-RoundnessThe permissible variation in round-ness shall be as prescribed in Table 4.7.3 Machining AllowancesWhen the surfac

    16、es of finishedmaterial are to be machined, the following allowances aresuggested for normal machining operations:7.3.1 As-finished (Annealed and Descaled)For diametersof516 to1116 in. (7.94 to 17.46 mm) incl, an allowance of116in. (1.59 mm) on the diameter should be made for finishmachining.7.4 Leng

    17、th:7.4.1 Unless multiple, nominal, or cut lengths are specified,random mill lengths shall be furnished.7.4.2 The permissible variations in length of multiple,nominal, or cut length rod shall be as prescribed in Table 1.Where rods are ordered in multiple lengths,14 in. (6.35 mm)length addition shall

    18、be allowed for each uncut multiple length.7.5 Ends:7.5.1 Rods ordered to random or nominal lengths shall befurnished with either cropped or sawed ends.7.5.2 Rods ordered to cut lengths shall be furnished withsquare saw cut or machined ends.7.6 WeightFor calculation of mass or weight, the follow-ing

Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The mate

    20、rial shall be uniform in quality and condition,smooth, and free of injurious imperfections.9. Sampling9.1 Lots for Chemical Analysis and Mechanical Testing:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot of bar for mechanical testing shall be defined asthe material from one h

    21、eat in the same condition and specifieddiameter.9.2 Sampling for Chemical Analysis:9.2.1 A representative sample shall be obtained from eachheat during pouring or subsequent processing.9.2.2 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibility of the purchaser.9.3 Sampling for Mechanical Tes

    22、tingA representativesample shall be taken from each lot of finished material.10. Specimen Preparation11.1 Tension test specimens shall be taken from materialafter final heat-treatment and tested in the direction of fabri-cation.11.2 Tension test specimens shall be any of the standard orsubsized specimens shown in Test Methods E8.11.3 In the event of disagreement, the refe

    31、ree specimenshall be the largest possible round specimen shown in TestMethods E8.12. Test Methods12.1 The chemical composition and mechanical propertiesof the material as enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined, in case of disagreement, in accordance with thefollowing ASTM methods:12.1.1

Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Material tested by the purchaser that fails to conform tothe requirements of this specification may be rejected. Rejec-tion should be reported to the producer

    35、 or supplier promptlyand in writing. In case of dissatisfaction with the results of thetest, the producer or supplier may make claim for a rehearing.15. Certification15.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, amanufacturers certification shall be furnished to the purchaserstating that ma

    36、terial has been manufactured, tested, and in-spected in accordance with this specification, and that the testresults on representative samples meet specification require-ments. When specified in the purchase order or contract, areport of the test results shall be furnished.16. Product Marking16.1 Ea

    37、ch piece of material12 in. (12.7 mm) and over indiameter shall be marked with this specification number, nameof the material, and size of the product.16.2 Each bundle or shipping container shall be markedwith the name of the material; this specification number; thesize; gross, tare, and net weight;

    38、consignor and consigneeaddress; contract or order number; and such other informationas may be defined in the contract or order.17.
