    2、ent Research and Development Command, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. After completion of the first 5000 cores by a contractor, or as directed by the contracting officer, each bar/core shall be identified by a serial number consisting of, as a minimum, two alpha Characters I a four digit melt or casting number, a

    7、 one digit heat treatment (aging batch) number and an optional three digit sequential core number . The identification number shall be in accordance with the following sequence (for codes see 3.4.3) : - - 01xxxx-Y-zzz 3.4.3 (U) Alpna and numerical characters. The alpha characters shall be assigned b

    8、y-the contracting officer. The numerical characters shall be assigned by the contractor. 3.4.3.1 (U) Alpha characters. The alpha characters are identified as below: O = manufacturers code 1 = itein/procuring agency code. 3.4.3.2 (U) Numerical characters. The numerical characters are identified as be

    9、low: W = ingot or billet number V = bar number for a specific ingot or billet XXXX = sequential melt/casting lot number (0001-9999) Y or YY = neat treatment/aging batch number (1, or 01, shall be used unless the melt is aged in more tnan one batch, i.e., use numbers 2-9, or 02-99, when melts are spl

This document shall include descriptions of specified production processes 8 procedur es and equi pent (including i n-pr ocess inspection equipment) used to manufacture and inspect the production material as stipulated in the contract. The descriptions shall id

    13、entify, as a minimum, the complete sequence of operations and schematic line layouts, basic fabrication processes (i .e . casting , for ginq 8 extrusion 8 machining 8 etc.) I fabrication equipment (i.e., type, model no., dies jigs, fixtures, etc.) 8 controls associated with fabrication processes (i.

    14、e., times, temperatures, feeds, speeds, pressures, etc.) 8 associated processes (i.e. 8 heat treatment, stress relieving, plating, etc.) 8 controls on these associated processes (i .e . 8 equipment descriptions # times, temperatures, etc.) in-process inspections, gages and setups utilized and applic

    15、able in-process inspection procedures . Process control documents shall be submitted in accordance witn DI-P-1604 (see 6.5.1). All initial and revised process control documents shall be submitted to DRDAR-QAT-A for review and disposition (see 6.5) .“ Add: 3.10 as follows: “3.10 (U) Eddy current insp

    16、ection. Each core shall be inspected in accordance with paragraph 4.5.6. Calibration shall be performed using an approved-standard manufactured in accordance with drawing 9280323. The flat cylindrical sections shall be calibrated using a 0.010 inch deep by 0.100 inch long by 0.005 inch wide circumfe

    17、rential slot and the grooves shall be calibrated using a 0.010 inch deep by 0.060 incn long by 0.005 inch wide circumferential slot.     21、in its entirety and substitute: “4.5.1 (U) Longitudinal hardness. The test shall be performed in accordance with ASTM E-18 using a cylindron anvil and the appropriate penetrator for the Rockwell C scale. Hardness readings shall be taken at three separate locations along the length of each bar; 1.0 +

    22、 0.5 inch(2.54 + 1.27cm) from each end and + 0.5 inch (1.27cm) from the center. One reading shall be taken at each location and shall be oriented approximately 120 from one another . Readings shall be corrected in accordance with ASTM E-18. These readings shall then be rounded to the nearest integer

    23、 in accordance with ASTM E-29. If any reading fails to meet the applicable drawing requirement, a retest shall be performed within 0.25 inch longitudinally frm the original measurement. No more than one retest is allowed at any one location. Failure to meet tne applicable drawing requirement at any

    24、location, after any required retest, shall be criteria for rejection of the bar.“ 4.5.2.1: Delete in entirety and substi tute: “4.5.2.1 (U) Chemical composition of the ingot. Chemical composition, with respect to titanium and carbon content, shall be determined by analysis of one specimen from both

    25、the top and bottom of every ingot (or front and rear OC extruded or rolled rod). All other required chernical properties shall be determined by analysis of one specimen from bOtn the top and bottom of one randomly chosen ingot from each melt. When reduced testing criteria is approved by the contract

    26、ing officer, chemical composition, with respect to titanium and carbon content, shall be determined by analysis of one specimen from both the top ana bottom of three randomly cnosen ingots (or front and rear of extruded or rolled rod) from each melt.     28、5.2.1.3) . Failure of any specimen to meet the applicable drawing requirement, witn the exception of titanium and carbon content, shall be cause for rejection of the entire melt. Acceptance criteria for titanium and carbon content are described in paragrapns 4.5.2.1.1 and 4.5.2.1.2 respectively .II

A retest shall be permitted whenever the results of any specimen is in a range of either 0.64-0.68 percent or 0.80-0.84 percent titanium. The ingot shall be rejected and no r

    31、etest permitted whenever the results of any specimen is less than 0.64 percent or greater than 0.84 percent titanium content. Failure beyond stated retest limits of one or more specimens from all three ingots initally tested shall be cause for rejection of the entire melt and retests shall not be pe

    32、rmitted. A retest shail consist of testing two additional samples from eacn location which failed in the original test. If one or more retest specimens fails to meet the applicable requirement (0.69-0.79 percent), then the ingot in question shall be rejected. Failure of three or more ingots or rods

    33、from the same melt, after retest (when applicable), shall be criteria for rejection of the entire melt. Retest provisions are applicable to all ingots tested,“ 7- 4.5.2.1.     35、rawing requirement shall be criteria for testing of the top and bottom of all remaining ingots in that melt for carbon content. In addition, the ingot(s) which failed shall be subject to retest. A retest shall consist of two additional specimens being selected from the same location as the original

    36、failure, except that the ingot or rod may first be cropped to remove non-conforming material at the contractors discretion. Any additional cropping for the purpose of a retest shall result in the scrapping of any material between the location of the original and retest specimens. Failure of one or m

    37、ore of the retest specimens to ineet the applicable rawing requirement shall be criteria for rejection of that particular ingot or rod. Failure of three or more ingots or rods from the same melt, after retest (wnen applicable), shall be criteria for rejection of the entire melt. Retest provisions ar

    38、e applicable to all ingots tested .I Add: 4.5.2.1.3 as follows: “4.5.2.1.3 (U) Reduced testing. criteria for trace elements. - When reduced testing is approved for tne trace elements (e, i, Cu, Si) 8 specimens shall be selected and tested in accordance with 4.5.2.1. If all test values are less than

    39、90 percent of the drawing requirements then the melt lot is considered acceptable for the trace elements. If the test value for any trace element is equal to or greater than 90 percent of the drawing requirement(s) tnen chemical analysis for the trace element (s) which fall (s) within this range sha

    40、ll be performed on the bottom of that same ingot. If any test value exceeds the drawing requirement (s) after retest, if applicable, then tnis shall be cause for rejection of tile entire melt lot. NO retest is permitted if any initial test value exceeds the drawing requirement (s) .“ 8 E Provided by

    43、dness profile. Test specimens shall be selected in accordance with Figure 1 and tested in accordance with ASTM E-18. Readings shall be taken at the center and on four (4) lines radiating approximately 900 . apart from the center. All readings shall be corrected in accordance with ASTM E-18 and shall

    44、 then be rounded to the nearest integer in accordance witn ASTM E-29. The center reading shall be taken within a 0.0625 inch (0.1588cm) radius of tne center. Two readings shall be taken approximately 1800 apart and approximately 0.125 inch (0.318cm) from the circumferential edge of the specimen. Ano

    45、ther two readings shall be taken at approximately mid-radius of the specimen. Each of these two readings shall be taken approximately 180 from each other and approximately 900 from the previous two readings.
