    1、Designation: D1785 15 An American National StandardStandard Specification forPoly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe, Schedules 40, 80,and 1201This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1785; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the

Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1

    3、This specification covers poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)pipe made in Schedule 40, 80, and 120 sizes and pressure-ratedfor water (see Appendix X1). Included are criteria for classi-fying PVC plastic pipe materials and PVC plastic pipe, asystem of nomenclature for PVC plastic pipe, and requirementsand tes

    4、t methods for materials, workmanship, dimensions,sustained pressure, burst pressure, flattening, and extrusionquality. Methods of marking are also given.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatibl

    5、e with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedu

    6、res prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.NOTE 2This standard specifies dimensional, performance and testrequirements for plumbing and fluid

    7、 handling applications only. It doesnot include provisions for the use of these products for venting ofcombustion gases. UL 1738 is a standard that does include specific testingand marking requirements for flue gas venting products, including PVC.1.3 The text of this specification references notes,

    8、footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathe

    9、maticalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.5 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest methods portion, Section 8, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associa

    10、ted with its use. It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use. A specific precautionary statement is givenin Note 9.NOTE 3CPVC plastic pipes, Schedules 40 and 80, whic

    11、h wereformerly included in this specification, are now covered by SpecificationF441/F441M.NOTE 4The sustained and burst pressure test requirements, and thepressure ratings in the Appendix X1, are calculated from stress valuesobtained from tests made on pipe 4 in. (100 mm) and smaller. However,tests

    12、conducted on pipe as large as 24-in. (600-mm) diameter have shownthese stress values to be valid for larger diameter PVC pipe.NOTE 5PVC pipe made to this specification is often belled for use asline pipe.     23、c to This Standard:3.2.1 hydrostatic design stressthe estimated maximumtensile stress the material is capable of withstanding continu-ously with a high degree of certainty that failure of the pipewill not occur. This stress is circumferential when internalhydrostatic water pressure is applied.3.2.2

    24、pressure rating (PR)the estimated maximum waterpressure the pipe is capable of withstanding continuously witha high degree of certainty that failure of the pipe will not occur.3.2.3 relation between dimensions, design stress, and pres-sure ratingthe following expression, commonly known asthe ISO equ

    26、ndard thermoplastic pipe materials designationcodethe pipe materials designation code shall consist of theabbreviation PVC for the type of plastic, followed by theASTM type and grade inArabic numerals and the design stressin units of 100 psi (0.7 MPa) with any decimal figures dropped.When the design

    27、 stress code contains less than two figures, acipher shall be used before the number. Thus a completematerial code shall consist of three letters and four figures forPVC plastic pipe materials (see Section 5).4. Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers PVC pipe made toand marked with one o

    28、f six type/grade/design stress designa-tions (see X1.2) in Schedule 40, 80, and 120 wall sizes.4.2 Hydrostatic Design StressesThis specification coverspipe made from PVC plastics as defined by four hydrostaticdesign stresses which have been developed on the basis oflong-term tests (Appendix X1).5. M

    29、aterials and Manufacture5.1 GeneralPoly(vinyl chloride) plastics used to makepipe meeting the requirements of this specification are catego-rized by means of two criteria, namely, (1) short-term strengthtests and (2) long-term strength tests.NOTE 6The PVC pipe intended for use in the transport of po

    30、tablewater should be evaluated and certified as safe for this purpose by a testingagency acceptable to the local health authority. The evaluation should bein accordance with requirements for chemical extraction, taste, and odorsthat are no less restrictive than those included in NSF/ANSI Standard No

    31、.14. The seal or mark of the laboratory making the evaluation should beincluded on the pipe. See pipe marking requirement for reclaimed watersystems.5.2 Basic MaterialsThis specification covers pipe madefrom PVC plastics having certain physical and chemicalproperties as described in Specification D1

    32、784.5.3 CompoundThe PVC compounds used for this pipeshall equal or exceed the following classes described inSpecification D1784; PVC 12454, or 14333.5.4 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean rework pipe material and the pipe produced shallmeet all the requirements of this speci

    33、fication.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 Dimensions and tolerances shall be as shown in Table1 and Table 2 when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2122. The tolerances for out-of-roundness shall apply only topipe prior to shipment.6.2 Sustained PressureThe pipe shall not fail

The test shallbe conducted in accordance with 8.4.1. The pipe shall demon-strate a hydr

    37、ostatic design basis projection at the 100 000-hintercept that meets the hydrostatic design basis categoryrequirement (see Tables 3-5 and Test Method D2837) for thePVC material used in its manufacture. (Example: PVC 1120pipe must have a minimum 100 000-h projection of 3830 psi(26.40 MPa) and 85 % lo
