    6、009This foreword shall not be considered a part of the standard, however, it is offered to provide background information.ASSE standards are developed in the interest of consumer safety.ASSE considers product performance standards to be of great value in the development of improved plumbing systems.

    7、This standard focuses on devices known as AAVs. These devices are intended as an alterna-tive to vents for individual fixtures and branches in the plumbing drainage system. The working group which developed this standard revision, was set up within the framework of the Product Standards Committee of

    8、 the American Society of Sanitary Engineering.Recognition is made of the time volunteered by members of this working group and of the support of the manufacturers who also participated in the meetings for this standard.This standard does not imply ASSEs endorsement of a product which conforms to the

    12、 horizontal branch serving multiple fixtures. When these devices are installed in a building, there shall be at least one (1) open vent terminal to relieve positive pressure which extends to the atmosphere outside of the building serving the building drain on which these devices are installed.1.2 Sc

    13、ope1.2.1 DescriptionThese devices consist of a one-way valve designed to allow air to enter the plumbing drainage system when a pressure less than atmospheric develops. The device closes and seals by grav-ity under (0) differential pressure (static condition) and under positive pressure. These devic

    14、es prevent sewer gases from entering the building. The device consists of a hooded or shielded body which contains a movable sealing assembly which seats and seals air flow when closed and allows air to enter when open.1.2.2 Temperature RangeThese devices shall function at temperatures from -40.0F t

Air inlet shields shall extend down the body of

    17、the device, over the sealing membrane, to the lowest portion of the sealing membrane, and shall maintain a minimum of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) clearance between the inner lower edge of the shield and the lowest surface of the air opening of the sealing membrane.1.3.2 LeakageThe device and joining methods

    18、shall not permit air leakage when pressurized up to 30 inches (762.0 mm) water column.1.3.3 InterferenceThe end connection of the device shall be designed so that when installed, the joint shall not interfere with any moving parts of the device or restrict air passageways.1.3.4 Connections1.3.4.1 Th

    19、reads for AAVsFor all plastic devices having taper pipe threads for connection to the drainage system, threads shall conform to the requirement of ASTM Specification F 1498. Metallic threads shall conform to the requirements of ASME B1.20.1.1.3.4.2 Hubless ConnectorsHubless connectors shall comply w

    20、ith ASTM C-564(3), CSA B602(4), or FM 168(5).1.3.4.3 Dimensions and Tolerances for AAV SocketsSockets on the device shall conform to the applicable material requirements. Devices having sockets for connection made from ABS material shall conform to the requirements of ASTM Specification D 2661, with

    21、 the exception of wall thickness. Devices having sockets made from PVC material shall conform to the requirements of ASTM Specification D 2665, with the excep-tion of wall thickness.1.3.4.4 Other ConnectionsWhere types of connections other than connections specified in Sections 1.3.4.1, 1.3.4.2, and

    22、 1.3.4.3 are provided with the device, the connection shall meet the applicable material require-ments and the total assembly shall comply with the performance tests in this standard.1.4 Reference StandardsReferences to industry standards shall mean the latest edition.Individual and Branch Type Air

    23、Admittance Valves for Sanitary Drainage Systems 3ASSE Standard 1051 - 2009Section II2.0 Test Specimens2.1 Samples SubmittedThree (3) devices of each size and model shall be submitted by the manufacturer. Tests shall be performed in the order listed on one (1) device of each size submitted.2.2 Sample

    24、s TestedThe testing agency shall select one (1) of each type or model and size for full test.2.3 DrawingsAssembly drawings, installation drawings and other data which are needed to enable a test-ing agency to determine compliance with this standard shall accompany devices submitted for examination a

    25、nd performance testing.2.4 RejectionFailure of one (1) device shall be cause for rejection of that size or model.4 Individual and Branch Type Air Admittance Valves for Sanitary Drainage SystemsASSE Standard 1051 - 2009Section III3.0 Performance Requirements and Compliance TestingWhen a device is des

    26、igned to accommodate multiple pipe sizes, the device shall be installed on the largest nominal pipe size for which it is designed.3.1 Pressure Test of Complete Device3.1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to determine if any pressure loss is evident during the pressure test.3.1.2 ProcedureThe devi

    27、ce shall be mounted in its normal working (upright) position on a pipe having a length equal to ten (10) times its inside diameter. Installation shall be in accordance with manufacturers required installation instructions. The inlet shall be connected to an air supply capable of creating pressures f

    28、rom a 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) water column (WC) up to 30.0 inches (762.0 mm) WC. Additionally, a secondary sealed system shall be constructed using the same pipe length and diameter as used for the device to compensate for changing environmental conditions. A pressure measuring device shall be part of the

    29、 test apparatus as shown in Figure 1. For the 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) and inch (19.1 mm) pressure test, the pressure measuring device shall have a minimum precision of 0.01 inch (0.3 mm). For the 30 inch (762.0 mm) WC pressure test, the pressure measuring device shall have a minimum precision of 0.5 inch

    30、(12.7 mm). The internal air volume of the control shall be equal to the internal air volume of the test device. The ambient temperature of the testing area shall remain constant within 2.0F ( 1.1C). The device shall be mounted in the test fixture at least two (2) hours prior to performing the test.

    31、Slowly apply pressure equal to 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) water column. Close the shut-off valves for five (5) minutes, and then slowly increase the pressure to 3/4 inch (19.0 mm) water column. Close the shut-off valves, hold for five (5) minutes, then increase to 30.0 inches (762.0 mm) water column. Close t

    33、nute intervals for pressures of 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) water column and 3/4 inch (19.0 mm) water column in excess of 0.05 inches (1.27 mm) water column shall result in a rejection of the device. Any pressure loss during the five (5) minute interval for a pressure of 30.0 inches (762.0 mm) water column in

    34、 excess of 2 inches (63.5 mm) water column shall result in a rejection of the device. 3.1.4 Repeat the test procedures in Section 3.1.2 with the device installed at a 15 orienta-tion from the vertical position. The test criteria in section 3.1.3 shall apply for the acceptability of the device to thi

    35、s test variation.3.2 Rating and Opening Pressure Test3.2.1 PurposeThe purpose of this test is to simulate a constant negative pressure condition in a buildings drainage system and to rate the device for capacity to serve as the inlet vent for a drain pipe of a specific size and fixture unit value. T

    36、he rating shall establish the maximum fixture unit value for specific drain pipe sizes.3.2.2 Procedure - Pre-conditioningInstallation shall be in accordance with manufacturers required installation instructions in ac-cordance with Figure 3. Activate the pressure source until the pressure reaches +1.

    37、0 inch (25.4 mm) water column and maintain this pressure for twenty-four (24) consecutive hours. 3.2.3 ProcedureThe assembly shall have an airflow measuring device to measure the airflow rate in the piping and a pressure measuring device for measuring the pressure change in the piping system. The ai

    38、r flow measuring device shall be capable of measuring air flow velocity with an precision of 1 ft/min (304.8 mm/min). The pressure measuring device shall have an precision of 0.01 inch (0.3 mm) WC. The pressure measuring device shall be located 4.0 inches (101.6 mm) below the device. There shall be

    39、a minimum length of ten (10) times the pipe diameter straight undisturbed pipe above the air flow meter and a minimum length of five (5) times the pipe diameter straight undisturbed pipe below the air flow meter. The fan shall be capable of creating a vacuum air flow within the capacity range of the

    41、 Standard 1051 - 2009The end of the pipe shall be temporarily capped to prevent airflow. Adjust the amount of vacuum being applied with a variable control to a static vacuum of 0.3 inches (7.6 mm) WC. Turn off the vacuum. Remove the cap from the fixture and install the AAV to be tested; then start t

    42、he vacuum at 0 inches (0 mm) uniformly increasing the vacuum over 15 seconds 2 seconds to 0.3 inches (7.6 mm) WC until the device opens. Record the value of the pressure at the instant the device opens. This value shall be designated as the opening pressure. Increase the airflow rate until the press

    43、ure reaches -1.0 inch 0.05 inch (-25.4 mm 1.27 mm) WC. Record the air flow rate. This value shall be designated as the determined airflow capacity. The temperature shall be maintained during the test at 73.4F 3.6F (23.0C 2.0C).3.2.4 CriteriaA maximum opening pressure value of more than 0.3 inches (7

    44、.6 mm) water column shall result in a rejection of the device.3.2.5 Rating the DeviceTable 1 shall be used to establish the drainage pipe size for the device based on the determined airflow capacity. 3.3 Endurance Test3.3.1 PurposeThis purpose of this test is to test the structural characteristics o

    45、f the thermoplastics used in the manufacturing of the device by exposing the device to extreme temperatures and applying a mechanical load as it returns to a controlled temperature. When exposed to air temperature between -40.0F and 150.0F (-40.0C and 65.6C), any material, whose characteristic is es

    46、-sential to the continued functioning of the device, shall not be adversely effected.3.3.2 Procedure - High TemperatureDevices shall be placed in an environment where the temperature is maintained at 150.0F 5.0F (65.6C 2.8C) for a period of eight (8) hours. After eight (8) hours, remove the device,

    47、and install it without delay on the test assembly in accordance with Figure 3. After the device is installed, im-mediately subject the device to a vacuum of 0 to 2.0 inches (0 to 50.8 mm) water column (in order to open the device) for two hundred fifty thousand (250,000) cycles. A cycle shall be def

    48、ined as two (2) seconds open and four (4) seconds closed. During the cycle test, the device shall return to the laboratory controlled temperature of 73.4F 3.6F (23.0C 2.0C). Upon completion of this test, the device shall be retested to Section 3.1, Pressure Test of Complete Devices.Note: When instal
