    32、carbons in stationary, aboveground, atmospheric storagetanks using automatic tank gauges (ATGs). The standard dis-cusses automatic tank gauging in general, accuracy, installa-tion, commissioning, calibration and verication of ATGsthat measure either innage or ullage. It covers both intrusiveand non-

    33、intrusive ATGs used for either custody transfer orinventory control. The standard also covers the requirementsfor data collection, transmission and receiving.This standard does not cover the following:a. Hydrocarbons having a Reid vapor pressure above 15pounds per square inch absolute (100 kPa).b. M

    34、easurement of weight or mass with ATG equipment.This is covered in Chapter 3.6 and Chapter 16.2 of the Man-ual of Petroleum Measurement Standards.c. Measurement of level in underground tanks or in pressur-ized tanks storing liquid hydrocarbons.d. Conversion of tank level to liquid volume. This is co

    35、veredin Chapter 12.1 of the Manual of Petroleum MeasurementStandards.e. Measurement of temperature, sampling, density and sedi-ment and water (S b. not compromise the resolution of the measurement outputsignal; c. provide proper security and protection of the measureddata to ensure its integrity;d.

    36、provide adequate speed to meet the update time requiredfor the receiving unit;e. be electromagnetically immune.15APPENDIX ASAFETY PRECAUTIONS: PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND FIRE CONSIDERATIONSPersonnel involved with handling petroleum-related substances and other chemical mate-rials should be familia

    37、r with the materials physical and chemical characteristics, includingpotential for re, explosion, and reactivity and appropriate emergency procedures. Thesepersonnel should comply with safe operating practices of the individual company and local,state and federal regulations, including use of proper

    38、 protective clothing and equipment. Per-sonnel should be alert to potential sources of ignition and should keep containers of materi-als closed when not in use.Note: Information regarding particular materials and conditions should be obtained from the employer,manufacturer, or supplier of that mater
