Significance and Use4.1 The pipe and fittings in this specification are designedand have the physical, chemical, and other properties for sewerand drainage applications outside the building. The pipe is notintended for use as public or
13、 municipal collector sewers. Materials5.1 GeneralThe pipe shall be made from virgin PVCcompound with a cell classification of 12164 with a minimumtensile
19、strength of 4000 psi (28 MPa), or 12454 as defined anddescribed in Specification D1784. The fittings shall be madefrom virgin poly(vinyl chloride) compounds of cell classifica-tion PVC 12454, or PVC 13343. PVC compounds that havedifferent cell classification because one or more properties aresuperio
20、r to those of the specified compounds are also accept-able.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material; the pipe and fittingsproduced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 Qualification and Referee Testing:6.1.1 J
21、oint TestingJoints made with pipe and fittings orbelled end pipe shall show no signs of leakage when tested inaccordance with 7.5. This test is not required for perforatedpipe.6.2 Quality Control Testing:6.2.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homo-geneous throughout and free from visible cr
22、acks, holes, foreigninclusions, or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be asuniform as commercially practical in color, opacity, density,and other physical properties.6.2.2 FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of splitting,cracking, or breaking when the pipe is tested in accordancewith 7.4.6.2.3
23、 Extrusion QualityThe pipe or fittings shall not flakeor disintegrate when tested in accordance with Test MethodD2152. In the case of fittings, slight flaking in the gate area isacceptable.6.2.4 Impact ResistanceThe impact resistance of pipeshall be determined in accordance with Test Method D2444,us
24、ing a 20-lb (10-kg) TupAand Holder B (flat plate), and shallcomply with the requirements given in Table 1 (Note 1). Forperforated pipe, samples are to be cut and tested at randomwithout regard to hole location, except that the point of impactshall not coincide with a perforation.NOTE 1This test is i
25、ntended only for use as a quality control test, notfor use as a simulated service test.6.2.5 Dimensions:6.2.5.1 Pipe and fittings dimensions (for both standard andperforated pipe) shall comply with Table 2, Table 3,orTable 4,as applicable, when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2122.6.2.5.2 Pi
26、pe shall be supplied in 10 ft 614-in. (3.05 m 6 6mm) laying lengths unless otherwise specified.6.2.5.3 For belled pipe and fittings fabricated from pipesections, the thickness of the belled section shall be consideredsatisfactory if the bell was formed from pipe meeting therequirements of Table 3.6.
27、2.5.4 For molded fittings, the wall thickness of the water-way and socket or bell shall be no less than the respectiveminimum thickness listed for the equivalent pipe wall in Table3. For reducing fittings or those with smaller inlets, theminimum wall thickness of each inlet shall be no less than the
28、minimum wall thickness for that size pipe.6.2.6 Pipe StiffnessThe pipe stiffness at 5 % deflection(F/y) shall not be less than the values given in Table 5 whentested in accordance with Test Method D2412. This require-ment does not apply to fittings.NOTE 2The 5 % deflection criterion, which was arbit
29、rarily selectedfor testing convenience, should not be considered as a limitation withrespect to in-use deflection. The engineer is responsible for establishingthe acceptable limit.NOTE 3The strength and load-carrying capabilities of plastic drainand sewer pipe are measured and reported as Pipe Stiff
30、ness which isdetermined in accordance with Test Method D2412. The term “crushstrength” is not applicable to plastic piping because (a) the values obtainedcan be significantly different, depending on the bedding, loading, ortesting technique used; and (b) the term derives from rigid pipe and refersto
31、 its ultimate strength at rupture.6.2.7 Solvent CementThe cement shall comply withSpecification D2564.6.2.8 PerforationsUnless otherwise specified, the perfo-rated pipe shall have two rows of holes12 in. (13 mm) indiameter on 5-in. (125-mm) centers, with allowable tolerancesof116 in. (61 mm) on the
32、diameter and +14, 0 in. (+6, 0mm) on the spacing, and the rows shall be parallel to the axisof the pipe and 120 6 5 apart when measured in accordancewith 7.6.7. Test the specimens at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) withoutregard to relative humidity.7.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the standardlaboratory at
35、mosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 610 % relative humidity, unless otherwise specified.7.3 MaterialsDetermine the physical and chemical prop-erties of PVC compounds used in the manufacture of pipe andfittings meeting this specification in accordance with the testmethods specified in Specificat
36、ion D1784.7.4 FlatteningFlatten three specimens of pipe, at least2-in. (51-mm) long, between parallel plates in a suitable pressuntil the distance between the plates is 40 % of the outsidediameter of the pipe. The rate of loading shall be uniform andsuch that the compression is completed within 2 to
37、 5 min. Onremoval of the load, examine the specimens for evidence ofsplitting, cracking, or breaking.7.5 Joint TightnessJoin two pieces of pipe by means of afitting in accordance with the manufacturers recommendationsand with solvent cement as described in 6.2.7.Allow the joinedunit to stand for at
38、least 24 h at room temperature. Subject theunit to an internal water pressure of 25 psi (170 kPa) at roomtemperature for 24 h. Neither the pipe, fitting, nor joints shallshow any leakage.7.6 PerforationFor the perforated pipe the hole diameterand the distance between hole centers shall be measured w
39、itha steel rule with at least116-in. (1-mm) graduations. The anglebetween the two rows of holes shall be measured with an indexhead capable of measuring accurately to within 1.8. Retest and Rejection8.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the test(s) shal
40、l be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed, or modified, nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the
41、 requirements of thisspecification.9. Marking and Labeling9.1 Pipe in compliance with this specification shall beclearly marked as follows at intervals of 5 ft (1.5 m) or less:9.1.1 Manufacturers name or trademark and code,9.1.2 Nominal pipe size,9.1.3 The legend “PVC Sewer Pipe” or “PVC PerforatedP

Certification11.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, amanufacturers certification shall be furnished to the purchaserthat the material was manufactured, sampled, tested, andinspect
47、ed in accordance with this specification, and has beenfound to meet the requirements. When specified in the pur-chase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.
