、ional Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electron
、ic fields. To this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees;
、any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non- governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization for Stand
、ardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the two organizations. 2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has re
、presentation from all interested IEC National Committees. 3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the technical content of IEC Publications is accurate,
、IEC cannot be held responsible for the way in which they are used or for any misinterpretation by any end user. 4) In order to promote international uniformity, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC Publications transparently to the maximum extent possible in their national and regional pub
、lications. Any divergence between any IEC Publication and the corresponding national or regional publication shall be clearly indicated in the latter. 5) IEC itself does not provide any attestation of conformity. Independent certification bodies provide conformity assessment services and, in some ar
、eas, access to IEC marks of conformity. IEC is not responsible for any services carried out by independent certification bodies. 6) All users should ensure that they have the latest edition of this publication. 7) No liability shall attach to IEC or its directors, employees, servants or agents inclu

Use of the referenced publications is indispensable for the correct application of this publication. 9) Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the el

International Standard IEC 62642-2-4 has been prepared by IEC technical committee 79: Alarm and electronic security systems. This standard is based on
、EN 50131-2-4 (2008). The text of this standard is based on the following documents: FDIS Report on voting 79/323/FDIS 79/329/RVD Full information on the voting for the approval of this standard can be found in the report on voting indicated in the above table. This publication has been drafted in ac
、cordance with the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2. 62642-2-4 IEC:2010 5 A list of all parts of the IEC 62642 series can be found, under the general title Alarm systems Intrusion and hold-up systems, on the IEC website. The committee has decided that the contents of this publication will remain unchanged

At this date, the publication will be reconfirmed, withdrawn, replaced by a revised edition, or amended. 6 62642-2-4 IEC:2010 INTRODUCTION This part 2-4 of the
、 IEC 62642 series of standards gives requirements for passive infrared and microwave detectors used in intrusion and hold-up alarm systems. The other parts of this series of standards are as follows: Part 1 System requirements Part 2-2 Intrusion detectors Passive infrared detectors Part 2-3 Intrusio

、7 Application guidelines Part 8 Security fog devices/systems This standard deals with combined passive infrared and microwave detectors (to be referred to as the detector) used as part of intrusion alarm systems installed in buildings. It includes four security grades and four environmental classes.
、 The purpose of the detector is to detect the broad spectrum infrared radiation emitted by an intruder, to emit microwave radiation and analyse signals that are returned and to provide the necessary range of signals or messages to be used by the rest of the intrusion alarm system. The number and sco
、pe of these signals or messages will be more comprehensive for systems that are specified at the higher grades. This International Standard is only concerned with the requirements and tests for the detector. Other types of detector are covered by other documents identified as in IEC 62642-2 series.
、If a combined detector can be operated in each technology individually, it also meets the grade-dependant requirements of the standards having relevance to those technologies. 62642-2-4 IEC:2010 7 ALARM SYSTEMS INTRUSION AND HOLD-UP SYSTEMS Part 2-4: Intrusion detectors Combined passive infrared / M
、icrowave detectors 1 Scope This part of the IEC 62642 is for combined passive infrared and microwave detectors installed in buildings and provides for security Grades 1 to 4 (see IEC 62642-1), specific or non- specific wired or wire-free detectors, and uses environmental classes I to IV (see IEC 62599-1).
