10、UL1 Scope1.1 These requirements apply to Circuit Interrupters with Fire Extinguishing Agent (CIFEA) intended to beinstalled on printed wiring boards or in freestanding end products. These devices are intended to actuateunder abnormal conditions of the controlled load, at a predetermined temperature
11、to release anextinguishing agent while interrupting the electrical circuit.Note A CIFEA does not replace the function of a fuse.1.2 This Outline supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of the Standard for Thermal-Links Requirements and Application Guide, UL 60691. Unless otherwise noted, a
12、ll clauses of UL 60691 areapplicable.1.3 These requirements are intended to address the inherent electrical safety of the product and theefficacy of the functionality. The effectiveness of such products when used in combination with a specificend-product is outside the scope of this outline of inves
13、tigation.Note The acceptability of a CIFEA in any particular application or appliance depends upon itsacceptability for continued use under the conditions that prevail in actual service. Compliance of a CIFEAto the requirements in this Outline evaluates the electrical and thermal attributes of the d

Theserequirements are intended to be used in conjunction with the Safety Standard requirements of anend-product, to determine whether the device is acceptable for use in an end-use application.1.4 The requirements of this outline are limited to devices that, when actuated, expel fire extingui
15、shingagents that are non-conductive (Halocarbon clean agent) and will not adversely interfere with the safe useof the equipment under normal operating conditions.1.5 The outline is applicable to devices with a rated voltage not exceeding 600V.2 Reserved3 Terms and definitions3.1 Clause 3 of this sta

17、y to open circuit or activation offire extinguishment.3.4 HOMOGENEOUS SERIES A series of CIFEA having common overall construction, deviatingfrom each other only in such characteristics that, for a given test, the testing of one or a reducednumber of particular CIFEA of that series shall be taken as

24、tandard is not applicable.5 General Notes on TestsThis clause of the standard is replaced as follows:5.101 Unless otherwise specified, only tests that are not required to be performed inside anenvironmental chamber and/or test oven shall be carried out under the following conditions:Temperature: 15C
25、 to 35CRelative Humidity: 25% to 75% Air pressure: 8.6 x 104 Pa to 1.06 x 105 PaThe required atmospheric conditions during testing shall be controlled when carrying out the tests andduring the duration of the tests. The required atmospheric conditions do not have to be maintained in atest laboratory

All samples are to come fro
28、m one production lot.5.105 The tests required and the order of conducting the tests is specified in Table 1. 40、onstructed in such a way that contact pressure is not transmittedthrough non-metallic material other than ceramic, or any material considered as having sufficientdimensional stability over the range of temperatures to be expected, unless there is sufficient resilience inthe corresponding metal parts
41、 to compensate for any shrinkage or distortion of the non-metallic material.9.1.6 Current-carrying parts shall have the necessary mechanical strength, be capable of carrying therated current and shall be of a material that is acceptable for the particular application.9.1.7 Friction shall not be used
42、 to secure uninsulated live parts (including terminals) to supportingsurfaces if there is a risk of such parts turning or shifting their position, resulting in the reduction ofclearance and creepage distances to less than those required elsewhere in this outline of investigation.9.1.8 Leads and term

46、 properties and is otherwise rated for the application.9.5.3 A base shall be constructed so that, considering the material used, it will withstand the most severecondition likely to be met in service.9.5.4 Insulating material, including a barrier between parts of opposite polarity and material that
47、may besubjected to the influence of an arc formed by opening a circuit, shall be rated for the application.9.5.5 Vulcanized fiber may be used for an insulating bushing, a washer, a separator, or a barrier, but notfor the sole support of an uninsulated live part of other than a low-voltage circuit.9.
48、5.6 Polymeric electrical insulating materials shall comply with the applicable requirements of theStandard for Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, UL 746C. The materials shallhave the appropriate flammability class required by UL 746C based on the equipment intended use. The
