4、TRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover CO gas test kits used to test CO gas and vapor detectors and sensors.1.2 The products covered by this outline of investigation are intended to be used as a means to test COgas and vapor detectors and sensors. Installation/operating document(s) and/or pro

The manufacturer shall provide evidence that the DOT rating is sui

9、 clause 15 of the standard forGas and Vapor Detectors and Sensors, UL 2075, (reference the sensitivity limits of Clause 38 of thestandard for Single and Multiple Station Carbon Monoxide Alarms, UL 2034, where appropriate).5.3 Normal Operation To be conducted as outlined in the operating instructions
10、 for the CO Gas Test Kiton 12 end product sample detectors.5.4 Abnormal Usage Expose 12 end product CO detectors to the abnormal exposure levels. The entirecontents of one can is to be dispensed as close to the sensor as possible (while the detector/sensor is inits normal operating configuration) to
11、 determine if subsequent operation of the detectors/sensor has beenadversely affected.5.5 Sensitivity Test Following 5.4, verify that the Sensitivity of the alarm has not been affected bysubjecting the samples to the Sensitivity Test outlined in Section 15 of Gas and Vapor Detectors andSensors, UL 2
12、075, (reference the CO sensitivity limits outlined in Section 38 of Single and Multiple StationCarbon Monoxide Detectors, UL 2034 where appropriate).5.6 As described/defined in the operating instructions, dispense the gas (CO) from the can into a gassample bag. Using a CO monitor/analyzer with an ac
13、curacy of 1 percent or better, analyze theconcentration of the CO that was injected into the gas sample bag. Verify that the measured COconcentration recorded by the CO analyzer is within 5 percent of the manufacturers specifications.Equivalent methods to quantify the gas concentration may be engine
14、ering reviewed to determine theirmeans of repeatability and reliability toward validating CO concentration contained within a can.5.7 Using the mechanical print provided by the manufacturer, calculate the internal volume of the can.Using 3 mutually exclusive end product cans of CO, measure and recor
15、d the CO concentration andpressure in each can. Using Boyles Law (Equation 1 below), calculate the volume of gas (CO andbalance gas) in each can at STP. This volume will indicate the maximum volume of the dispensed gas (atSTP conditions) at which the concentration as measured in 5.5 can exist (i.e.
16、worst-case COconcentration produced by a fully-dispensed can). The Ideal Gas Law shall then be applied to verify thatthe total amount of CO in the can does not exceed 3.22 x 10-4moles (approximately 9.0 mg) of CO at25C, 1 atm.NOTE: Equivalent concentrations that exceed the maximum allowable number o
17、f moles are to beindividually assessed. Additionally, an equivalent number of moles that exceeds the maximum of 1850ppm in concentration are to be individually assessed. Next, we will determine whether this CO gas test kit exceeds the defined maximumnumber of moles.Because 1 mole of gas at STP will occupy a specific volume, regardless of the molecular weight of thegas,
21、 we can use the following formula (Equation 2) to determine the volume fraction of the CO withrespect to the overall CO/balance gas mixture volume at STP:Equation 2: ppm (CO) = (Volume of CO at STP) / (Total Gas Volume at STP) x 1061850 ppm = (Volume of CO) / (4.086 L) x 106Therefore, the Volume of

25、 lowest production tolerances of CO to diluting/balance gas (such asnitrogen) concentration.MARKING6 Product Marking6.1 The product marking shall include at least the following:a) Manufacturers name and address,b) CO level of gas within the container in ppm,c) A reference to the user installation in
26、structions and direction for use,d) An indication that the test gas is only to be used with detectors that are equipped with afunctional speed-up test feature,e) Information on maximum storage temperature and any other storage concerns andf) A statement that the product is intended for use only by a
